Samsung introduces Digimax A5 and A6 cameras

The Samsung Digimax A6 and A5 digital cameras come equipped with a wide range of the most technologically advanced and cutting-edge features available on the market at an affordable price. The Digimax A6 has a 6 Megapixel CCD sensor and the Digimax A5 has a 5 Megapixel CCD sensor. In combining these sensors with a Samsung High-Definition (SHD) lens, these cameras deliver fantastic image quality. Users are presented with 10 different Scene modes (Portrait, Children, Landscape, Close-up, Sunset, Dawn, Backlight, Fireworks, Beach & Snow and Text) from which to choose to create the perfect shot. For the more creative user there is also the choice of aperture priority, shutter priority and fully manual shooting modes.


New Samsung Digimax A400 camera introduced

A 4 Megapixel auto focus camera with 2.8x optical and 4x digital zoom, the Samsung Digimax A400 captures crisp images. The Digimax has a 2.0-inch colour TFT LCD that enables users to quickly and easily review and preview. The superb 5cm macro mode allows users to capture clear images of subject matter as close as 5cm from the camera's lens. The Digimax A400 offers a lot of features, including multiple flash modes, adjustable white balance and selectable ISO sensitivity (Auto, 100, 200 and 400). Digimax A400 users can capture both still images and movie clips with audio at resolutions up to 640 x 480 (VGA) at a maximum rate of 24fps. The length of the movie clips are only limited to the capacity of the memory card.


Samsung introduces 8-Gigabit NAND flash memory

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the leader in advanced semiconductor technology, announced that it has developed the industry's first 60-nanometer (nm) 8-Gigabit (Gb) NAND Flash memory device for data storage medium such as low density mobile hard disks for mobile appliances. "NAND flash technology development continues to double density growth on an average of every 12 months," said Dr. Chang Gyu Hwang, president and CEO of Samsung Electronics' Semiconductor business. Verifying the New Memory Growth Model he first presented at the ISSCC's 2001conference, Dr. Hwang said the industry has seen densities grow from 256 Megabit (Mb) in 1999, to 512Mb in 2000, 1Gb in 2001, 2Gb in 2002, 4Gb in 2003 and now 8Gb in 2004"


Samsung unveils first Mobile Phone with Hard Drive

Samsung Electronics unveiled the first-ever mobile phone (model: SPH-V5400) with an internal hard disc drive. The phone makes its debut at ITU Telecom Asia 2004 in Busan. A tiny 1.5GB hard drive in the phone greatly expands memory capacity, The phone is also equipped with a 2.2” QVGA LCD and mega-pixel camera. The V5400 is equipped with a 1-inch diagonal, 1.5GB hard disc drive that greatly expands the memory capacity of mobile phones from the conventional 100MB maximum capacity. In addition, the phone boasts a high-resolution (QVGA) 2.2-inch liquid crystal display and includes features, such as MP3 player, electronic book and Korean-English/English-Korean dictionaries.

Samsung introduces four new DV camcorders

Samsung announced the introduction of four new DV Camcorders, including the ultra-compact series VP-D323i and 325i, and the compact models VP-D303i and VP-D305i. The new series of Samsung DV Camcorders feature a slim and compact form, which together with their simple operating functions and other innovative functionalities, makes them the perfect digital mate for summer, allowing people to enjoy video recording anytime, anywhere. The diminutive dimensions of the Samsung VP-D323i and 325i, with a weight of only 390g, make for an ultra-compact design that is highly portable and perfect for outdoor video shooting. The Samsung VP-D303i and 305i weigh only 450g and come with a powerful 20x optical zoom lens in a compact case.


The Second-Generation DuoCam: SAMSUNG VP-D6050i

We already have seen this new product during our CeBIT 2004 visit, but we did not mention the new DuoCam in our CeBIT 2004 report. It is an interesting combination of video and high resolution photo in one. Samsung Electronics continues its leadership in digital convergence innovation with the second-generation DuoCam VP-D6050i, which combines the best technology from DSC (digital still photography) and Mini-DV (digital video). The new DuoCam VP-D6050i improves on the swivel lens design by incorporating dedicated DV and DSC lenses in one body. The new design offers a more compact package, similar in size to other Mini DV camcorders, but packs all the features consumers have come to expect from individual DV camcorders and DSCs.
