Samsung SPH-V5400 includes 1.5GB storage : Cornice Inc., an innovator in compact, high-capacity storage, announced that Samsung Electronics has selected the 1.5-gigabyte Cornice Storage Element for its Samsung SPH-V5400 mobile phone. As the first mobile phone with an embedded storage solution, Samsung's SPH-V5400 represents an entirely new class of mobile phone technology capable of storing hundreds of MP3 files and thousands of images, as well as downloading video content. The Samsung agreement marks the fourth time Cornice has partnered with a world-class consumer electronics manufacturer to deliver industry-first products with storage capabilities that set new standards for capacity, function and value.


Samsung unveils first Mobile Phone with Hard Drive

Samsung Electronics unveiled the first-ever mobile phone (model: SPH-V5400) with an internal hard disc drive. The phone makes its debut at ITU Telecom Asia 2004 in Busan. A tiny 1.5GB hard drive in the phone greatly expands memory capacity, The phone is also equipped with a 2.2” QVGA LCD and mega-pixel camera. The V5400 is equipped with a 1-inch diagonal, 1.5GB hard disc drive that greatly expands the memory capacity of mobile phones from the conventional 100MB maximum capacity. In addition, the phone boasts a high-resolution (QVGA) 2.2-inch liquid crystal display and includes features, such as MP3 player, electronic book and Korean-English/English-Korean dictionaries.
