Dennis Hissink : 2004-06-02 17:20:18
Kopin Corp. today announced that its 0.16-inch CyberDisplay-equipped CyberView 113K EVF is featured in the new key019 Key Ring Camcorder introduced by Royal Philips Electronics. The key019 features an ultra-cool design, which, at 3.5 inches tall, 1.2 inches wide, less than 1 inch thick and weighing a mere 1.6 ounces, is the size of a PEZ candy dispenser. This unique design captured Popular Mechanics' Editor's Choice Award for new product innovation at the 2004 Consumer Electronics Show and was featured in the May 10, 2004 edition of Time magazine. The key019 Key Ring Camcorder was designed and is sold by Royal Phillips Electronics and is being manufactured by Kinpo Electronics Co.

Philips' Fluid Lenses Bring Things into Focus

Mark Peters : 2004-03-03 22:52:58
In a few weeks from now the CeBIT 2004 will kick off! This event will always show interesting innovations and introductions. At this year's CeBIT Exhibition in Hannover, Germany, Philips is demonstrating a unique variable-focus lens system that has no mechanical moving parts. Suited to a wide range of optical imaging applications, including such things as digital cameras, camera phones, endoscopes, home security systems and optical storage drives, Philips' FluidFocus system mimics the action of the human eye using a fluid lens that alters its focal length by changing its shape. The new lens, which lends itself to high volume manufacturing, overcomes the fixed-focus disadvantages of many of today's low-cost imaging systems.
