Pentax announces new OptioS50 camera

Dennis Hissink : 2004-08-16 21:30:55
Pentax Corporation is pleased to introduce the new PENTAX OptioS50. A truly easy-to-operate compact digital camera with a 5.0-effective megapixel CCD, a 3X optical zoom lens and more. Pentax incorporated various user-friendly features into the OptioS40 (launched in March 2004), such as the handy mode dial and the help function that displays the functions of control buttons on the LCD monitor. Such user-friendly benefits are also features of the OptioS30, which was launched in June 2004. Both of these models have been well received by our consumers as easy-to-understand, easy-to-use compact digital cameras that are ideal for newcomers to digital photography. Now Pentax is about to launch the new OptioS50.

Pentax plans digital SLR family expansion

Dennis Hissink : 2004-06-09 11:00:59
According to an article published in Nikkei Electronics Pentax will introduce a new friendly priced digital SLR camera probably introduced during Photokina, the great event to be hold in Cologne, Germany (28 September - October 2, 2004). This event promises to become a very interesting one; lots of rumours are already floating around and according to some inside information every digital enthusiast will be served at Photokina! Coming back to the Pentax SLR; Pentax USA has given a small official comment on the digital SLR topic: PENTAX Imaging Company, a division of PENTAX of America, Inc. has announced it is developing cameras for the entry level digital SLR category. The first introduction is slated for Fall of 2004.

First look at the new Pentax Optio MX camera

Dennis Hissink : 2004-04-10 00:01:02
We just had an opportunity to spend some hours with the new Pentax Optio MX camera, so we decided to get along and publish this first look. When we attended the PMA show in Las Vegas the Optio MX was suddenly unveiled. This strange looking compact digital camera reminds the veterans amongst us, of an ultra compact super 8 camera, but equipped with nowadays technique. The compact Optio MX camera is a digital camera combining film and video. The camera is equipped with a 1/2.7 inch CCD and offers 3.2 effective Megapixels, delivering a resolution of 2048x1536 pixels. This innovative, palm-sized Optio features a 10x optical zoom to capture still images and high resolution (VGA) full motion movies on MPEG4 format with zoom capability.

CeBIT introduction of the Pentax Optio MX

Dennis Hissink : 2004-03-23 07:16:13
Showcased in a display case during CeBIT 2004 in Hannove, Germany, but kept in al of our hands during PMA show in Las Vegas (February 2004) Pentax introduces this prototype as its highlight during the CeBIT show. I am pretty sure Photokina will give us some real exciting news. Video functionality has almost become a standard feature on modern digital cameras, however usually in a rather mediocre resolution of 160x120 or 320x240 pixels. With the Optio MX, Pentax now presents a camera the size of a cell phone that will also convince video fans with full VGA quality (640x480 pixels). And thanks to its 3.2 Megapixels resolution in the photo mode, digital photographers won't need to compromise, either.

CeBIT introduction of Pentax DA 2.8/14mm ED (IF)

Dennis Hissink : 2004-03-22 15:21:36
We already saw this new lens during our visit to the PMA event in Las Vegas, and during this CeBIT 2004 show Pentax shows it again to the audience. With the smc Pentax DA 2.8/14 mm ED (IF) lens, Pentax will expand its line of lenses for digital SLR cameras in the very important wide-angle range with an important focal length. Because it's perfectly matched to the format of the Pentax *istD digital SLR camera, the 14 mm wide-angle lens (approx. 21 mm in the 35 mm format) produces pictures with an outstanding image quality. It is uncompromisingly tailored to the concept of the *istD, the smallest and lightest 6.2 megapixel digital SLR camera on the market, launched very successfully in September.
