Dennis Hissink : 2004-12-14 19:00:37
Pentax Imaging Company continues to expand its digital SLR lens family with the announcement of a fourth member, the smc Pentax DA 40mm F2.8 Limited lens. Designed for exclusive use with Pentax digital SLR cameras, the unique pancake style standard lens measures a mere .59 inches in length and weighs just 3.17 ounces. Combined with the popular Pentax *ist DS digital SLR, the Pentax DA 40mm F2.8 Limited lens will offer the smallest and lightest digital SLR combination available from any manufacturer. As part of the Pentax Limited Series, the lens will offer exceptional image quality and construction, high contrast, high resolution, and minimal aberrations.

Pentax introduces two lightweight macro lenses

Dennis Hissink : 2004-08-17 10:15:05
Pentax announces the development of the new smc Pentax-D FA interchangeable lens series, designed to optimize image quality in digital SLR photography. The series also features an image circle covering accommodating the 35mm-format film. As the first models of this new series, PENTAX will market two compact, lightweight macro lenses for close-up photography up to a life-size magnification. Taking advantage of its advanced optical design technologies, Pentax successfully optimized the optical characteristics of these new lenses for digital photography, including lens coating and curvature and positioning of optical elements. In particular, flare and ghost images have been reduced to minimum for clear, high-quality digital images.

Pentax announces availability of 14mm f2.8 lens

Dennis Hissink : 2004-05-15 02:00:00
Pentax has announced a second lens designed for the *ist D digital SLR will ship later this month. The smc PENTAX-DA 14mm F2.8 ED [IF] interchangeable wide-angle lens was developed as a second model of the new DA-series line-up. At 14.8 ounces and measuring just 2.7 inches long and 3.3 inches in diameter, the lens is one of the lightest in its category. The lens features a standardized DA-series design incorporating high-grade metallic components with green accents. Featuring a focal length of 14mm (equivalent to 21mm in the 35mm format) and a 90-degree angle of view, this high-performance wide-angle lens incorporates a high-refraction, low-dispersion glass element and an Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass element.

CeBIT introduction of Pentax DA 2.8/14mm ED (IF)

Dennis Hissink : 2004-03-22 15:21:36
We already saw this new lens during our visit to the PMA event in Las Vegas, and during this CeBIT 2004 show Pentax shows it again to the audience. With the smc Pentax DA 2.8/14 mm ED (IF) lens, Pentax will expand its line of lenses for digital SLR cameras in the very important wide-angle range with an important focal length. Because it's perfectly matched to the format of the Pentax *istD digital SLR camera, the 14 mm wide-angle lens (approx. 21 mm in the 35 mm format) produces pictures with an outstanding image quality. It is uncompromisingly tailored to the concept of the *istD, the smallest and lightest 6.2 megapixel digital SLR camera on the market, launched very successfully in September.
