This new Panasonic camcorder is destined to change forever what we expect in home video recording: DVD video quality from a package about the size of a thick credit card and no mechanical recording media whatsoever, the world's smallest MPEG 2 camcorder. Officially, it's the new SV-AV100 D-snap SD Video Camcorder from Panasonic. Unofficially, it's the new standard for making home videos. The SV-AV100 is part of a totally new line of D- snap products just introduced by Panasonic. Measuring a mere 1.25 by 2.125 by 3.5 inches, it's designed to be truly the world's smallest high-quality camcorder and literally drops into a pocket, purse, or briefcase for instant on-the-go videos.

Panasonic brought a whole bunch of new products to the CES show in Las Vegas. Among them were the new Panasonic PV-GS120 and PV-GS200 camcorders featuring Leica Optics and 3CCD technology. The new models produce motion and still images with true-to-life colour and expressive detail. These top-of-the-line camcorders incorporate the same type of 3CCD imaging system used in Panasonic’s celebrated professional camcorders. Individual CCDs are used to reproduce the red, green and blue colours that compose an image for vivid, true-to-life pictures with remarkable depth and presence. They also boast the sophisticated Leica Dicomar lens, which has become known for its ability to capture and finely render the most delicate nuances of light and shade.
