Nikon sets new direction with enhanced software

Nikon today announced a new software product and strategy to establish a stronger position in this sector. The new software application entitled “Picture Project” was based on information gathered during a worldwide study into customer expectations and requirements. Picture Project has been designed so that users will feel totally at ease with the software in under ten minutes. It addresses the core need to organise, edit and use the many images that digital camera owners create, presenting them in a series of easy to access Collections that free the user from computer knowledge. It includes a number of useful functions to enhance digital images that rely on the proprietary image-processing knowledge of Nikon specialists.


Nikon announces Picture Project software

New AF-S DX Zoom Nikkor 18-70mm f3.5-4.5G IF-ED

A fourth DX format Nikkor lens is introduced today to join the growing range of lenses designed specifically for Nikon digital SLR cameras, the AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-70mm F3.5-4.5G IF-ED. With a practical wide-angle to telephoto zoom range of 18mm to 70mm it offers the analogue 135 format equivalent to 27-105mm for general photography with Nikon D series digital SLRs but attractively priced to enable anyone to start shooting digital SLR photography irrespective of the current camera system they might own. This is the first lens of its class to be offered in DX format, enabling a wide focal length range ratio. It effectively upgrades two existing AF Nikkors, it is smaller, lighter and more versatile than the existing AF 28-105 lens.

Nikon introduces the Coolpix 8700 camera

The present top model amongst the digital Coolpix compact cameras is getting a bigger brother. The new Coolpix 8700 is a fully-fledged digital camera with a high resolution of 8 Megapixels which means a jump from 5 to 8million pixels. The compact housing of the new Coolpix 8700 is in fact equal to the housing of the last model, the Coolpix 5700. The Coolpix 8700 is equipped with a top class zoom lens which offers a zoom range of 8x. The new top model is aimed at the consumers with a broad knowledge of photography, and who are not satisfied with what the present generation digital compact cameras offer. Announcement specifications Nikon D70

The Nikon D70 was introduced world-wide beginning of December 2003. The specifications were not revealed then but today we can announce them. The new D70 is a digital SLR camera that is within reach of many photography lovers now because of the attractive price. There are lots of people photographing with Nikon equipment who would like to step over to digital photography but are stopped because of the high costs of a digital reflex camera. Introducing the D70 brings digital reflex photography within reach. The recommended retail price is a lot more attractive than at the time of the introduction of the previous model; the D100. The D70 of course also uses the popular Nikon DX sensor format and the Nikon F-bayonet mount.


Nikon Coolpix 2200 and 3200 camera introduction

The two new models are the successors of the Coolpix 2100 and 3100, two user-friendly, versatile digital cameras from the successful Coolpix assortment. This new duo is designed for the beginning photographer who is taking his or her first steps into digital photography, as well as for the more experienced user who is looking for a compact, easy to operate, but versatile camera. The entry-level model, the Coolpix 2200 has an effective image resolution of 2 Megapixels. The Coolpix 3200 is equipped with an image sensor that offers 3.2 effective Megapixels.
