Nikon announces AF-S VR Nikkor 200mm f/2G IF-ED

Dennis Hissink : 2004-05-28 08:32:08
Nikon Europe announces the introduction of a revolutionary new SLR photographic lens, the first f/2 aperture lens to feature Vibration Reduction (VR) technology (as of June 2004). The AF-S VR Nikkor 200mm f/2G IF-ED heralds an exciting breakthrough in photographic performance to extend shooting opportunities beyond the limits of currently available photographic lenses. The unique combination of an f/2 maximum aperture combined with Vibration Reduction enables new photographic opportunities in light conditions previously impossible to achieve without resorting to grainy high-speed film or noise-prone digital ISO sensitivity settings. The introduction of today's AF-S Teleconverter TC-17E II is a perfect accessory to use with this new lens.

Dennis Hissink : 2004-05-28 08:00:00
Nikon today announced the introduction of the COOLPIX4100, a new consumer digital camera with slim dimensions, 4 Megapixel performance and surprisingly simple operation. Building on the success and capabilities of the COOLPIX 3200 and featuring the same stylish grip, the COOLPIX 4100 feels comfortable in the hand and makes operation easy through its enhanced Graphic User Interface (GUI), which displays easy-to-see menus on a bright 1.6-inch TFT LCD monitor. Furthermore, all controls are placed on the back of the camera for convenient access. The COOLPIX 4100 even has the advantage of 14.5MB of internal memory. This allows the user to shoot pictures when there's no SD card inserted, or copy shots between the internal memory and SD cards.

The Version 1.0.1 of the Picture Project software will be released in June 2004.

PMA introduction: Nikon Coolpix 5200

Dennis Hissink : 2004-02-21 08:05:17
During PMA Nikon announced another new Coolpix member; the Coolpix 5200. This easy-to-operate digital camera delivers high 5.1 Megapixel quality and a selection of useful functions. The newly developed 3x optical Zoom-Nikkor lens with a focal range of 7.8 to 23.4mm (equivalent to a 38-114mm lens in 35mm format) assures high image quality. Its newly developed compact lens ensures optimal clarity through the use of a glass ED element and aspherical elements. Featuring aspherical elements and an ED glass element, it achieves a significant reduction in aberration. It has also been specially designed to retract to an extent that complements the camera's slim design.

Nikon is introducing new Coolpix 4200

Dennis Hissink : 2004-02-21 08:04:14
Again we can add a new camera to our database. This time it is Nikon who is introducing a new easy-to-use digital camera with a 4 effective Megapixels resolution and a handful of useful functions. The Coolpix 4200 features a newly developed 3x optical Nikkor zoom lens with a focal range of 7.8 to 23.4mm (equivalent to 38-114mm lens in 35mm format). This new lens is featuring aspherical elements and an ED glass element which is usually only seen in high-end models. This ED element helps to reduce aberration, but is also helping to reduce the dimensions of the body. The Coolpix 4200 is equipped with a CCD offering 4 effective Megapixels which will ensure rich detailed recorded images.

Nikon Introduces the Nikon CoolWalker MSV-01

Dennis Hissink : 2004-02-02 03:03:40
Last week we published the first major pre-PMA announcements. Nikon had some pretty nice announcements last week followed by a heavy weight camera from Canon. However we also have to mention a new storage device from Nikon; the CoolWalker MSV-01. This portable device can store up to 30GB and features a large 2.5-inch TFT monitor. The Nikon CoolWalker is a stylish storage device that offers an invaluable solution to the organisation of thousands of large resolution image files of all formats produced by today's high-resolution digital cameras. The easy to use menu guides you through the process of efficient image management on the move, with practical PC-less options to share and print work later.

Exclusive First Look of the Nikon D70 DSLR

Dennis Hissink : 2004-01-29 07:00:00
Finally we know more about the upcoming Nikon D70 camera. We have had the opportunity to get a first glimpse of this new DSLR and got an immediate positive feeling about the body. Compared with the entry-level DSLR of Nikon's competitor Canon EOS 300D we now feel a far more solid and well designed body, more like you used to feel when handling a Nikon F100 SLR camera. Confronted with the specifications we personally believe the D70 to be an upgraded D100 with an EOS 300D price tag. The uses of technical innovations first found in the D2H are now getting their debut in a very cost-friendly body! The sample we have seen today is a pre-production sample so we can't really reach conclusions yet about image quality, etc.
