Dennis Hissink : 2004-05-22 09:30:00
Sigma 18-125mm F3.5-F5.6 DC lens launch : Sigma announces the launch of the new Sigma 18-125mm F3.5-5.6 DC. This Sigma 18-125mm F3.5-F5.6 DC zoom lens was exclusively designed for use with digital Single-Lens Reflex (SLR) cameras and has 6.9x high magnification zoom ratio. A Special Low Dispersion (SLD) and two pieces of aspherical glass elements produce high level of optical performance through the entire zoom range and also this has resulted in a compact, lightweight lens that features a length of 77.7mm (3"), maximum diameter of 70mm (2.7"), weight of 385gr (13.5oz) and filter size of just 62mm. The new lens coating reduces flare and ghost, which is a common problem of digital cameras and also creates an optimum color balance.

By effective arrangement of Special Low Dispersion (SLD) and aspherical glass elements, this lens has compact dimensions of 83.6mm maximum diameter, and 84.5mm length. It is capable of taking pictures from a close distance, minimum focusing distance is 38cm at all focal lengths, and has a maximum magnification ratio of 1:5.8. Two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements are provided for effective compensation of color aberration, which is a common problem with super-wide angle lenses.

CeBIT introduction of Pentax DA 2.8/14mm ED (IF)

Dennis Hissink : 2004-03-22 15:21:36
We already saw this new lens during our visit to the PMA event in Las Vegas, and during this CeBIT 2004 show Pentax shows it again to the audience. With the smc Pentax DA 2.8/14 mm ED (IF) lens, Pentax will expand its line of lenses for digital SLR cameras in the very important wide-angle range with an important focal length. Because it's perfectly matched to the format of the Pentax *istD digital SLR camera, the 14 mm wide-angle lens (approx. 21 mm in the 35 mm format) produces pictures with an outstanding image quality. It is uncompromisingly tailored to the concept of the *istD, the smallest and lightest 6.2 megapixel digital SLR camera on the market, launched very successfully in September.

New EF28-300 f/3.5–5.6L IS USM lens from Canon

Dennis Hissink : 2004-01-29 05:00:00
Canon today releases the professional series EF28-300mm f/3.5–5.6L IS USM ultra high magnification zoom lens. With an approx. 11x zoom range covering everything from wide-angle to telephoto, Canon's latest dust and moisture proof 'white lens' is designed to appeal to professional EOS photographers looking to reduce lens changes and the number of lenses they need to carry. The lens incorporates Canon's renowned Image Stabilisation (IS) technology, compensating for approximately three stops without any perceptible increase in image blur when shooting static subjects or panning. This vastly increases the range of circumstances in which hand-held photography is possible, limiting the need to carry a tripod.
