First DIWA Design Award - Olympus Mju mini Digital

Canon honoured with a DIWA GOLD Award for EOS 20D

The DIWA organisation of collaborating worldwide websites (Digital Imaging Websites Association) today announced that Sony Inc. has been awarded Gold and Silver medals for two of their excellent digital cameras. The DIWA test experts honoured the Cyber-shot DSC-F828 with gold, accompanied by the Cyber-shot DSC-V1, which qualified for a silver medal. The awards are the results of comprehensive, independent reviews of different samples, made by a number of DIWA camera testing experts from Europe and USA. The Cyber-shot DSC-F828 proved its excellence by scoring extremely well on DIWA's unique evaluation scoreboard. Its 8x zoom Carl Zeiss lens and the top ranked 8 megapixel Super HAD CCD image sensor provided outstanding image quality.


DIWA announces two Awards to Olympus

DIWA (Digital Imaging Websites Association), a world-wide organisation of collaborating websites, today announces two awards to Olympus for their remarkable wide zoom digital compact cameras, Camedia C-8080 Wide Zoom and C-5060 Wide Zoom. Both cameras passed the rigorous DIWA test procedure with excellent results. The 8 Megapixel Camedia C-8080 Wide Zoom scored well above the limit for a DIWA Gold Award, thanks to its fast 5x zoom lens with 28-140 mm zoom range, outstanding overall image quality, flexible handling and good value for money. Canon scores three DIWA Awards in a row

DIWA Awards have been awarded to Canon Inc. for three of their high performance digital cameras. The PowerShot Pro 1 was awarded with a gold medal, in recognition of its overall qualities, performance and value. Two other Canon models, PowerShot S1 IS and EOS 300D, were both honoured with silver medals for outstanding performance. The awards are the results of comprehensive, independent reviews of different samples, made by a number of DIWA camera testing experts from Europe and USA. FotoAparat becomes the 11th member of the DIWA

DIWA (Digital Imaging Websites Association), the fast-growing association of expert Web-based publications specialising in digital imaging product reviews, has signed up its eleventh member publication: www.fotoaparat.cz, the top digital photography editorial site for Czech and Slovak languages. Fotoaparat means "camera" in Czech and Slovak. The site was founded in 1999 by Andrej and Helena Macenauer and is now the leading website of its kind in the region. Olympus celebrates DIWA gold awards during CeBIT

The Digital Imaging Websites Association (DIWA) was able to complete some unfinished business with Olympus on the opening day of the CeBIT Fair, Hannover, Germany, this week. Awarded DIWA gold medals for the Olympus E-1 and E-System innovation last month, CeBIT was the perfect venue to present Olympus its two prestigious gold medal award trophies. Made from a unique polished black rock only found in Larvik, Norway, each trophy weighs approximately 3kg. On behalf of Olympus, the president of Olympus Imaging Systems Europe, Graeme Chapman and from Olympus' Tokyo HQ, general manager marketing planning, Hirohide "Harry" Matsushita, received DIWA trophies from DIWA technical manager, Kai Thon and DIWA general manager, Ian Burley.


Casio receives DIWA silver medal trophy at CeBIT

Last month Casio was awarded a Digital Imaging Websites Association (DIWA) silver medal award for its QV-R40 compact digital camera. A presentation of the award certificate was made to senior Casio representatives at the recent PMA show in Las Vegas, but manufacturing of the special DIWA medal trophies wasn't completed until after PMA (February, 2004). The trophies are made from a unique polished black rock unique and only found in Larvik, Norway. With the recent arrival of completed DIWA Awards trophies, a presentation of Casio's silver medal trophy was arranged on the Casio booth at the CeBIT Fair in Hannover during the show's opening day.


Top US Web Site Joins DIWA

First DIWA awards presented at PMA

PMA 2004 has been an important occasion for DIWA. At the beginning of this month the very first DIWA awards were revealed, a silver DIWA medal for the Casio QV-R40 and for Olympus, a gold DIWA medal for the Olympus E-1 and a further gold medal in recognition of the innovations at the heart of the Olympus E-System. This week's prestigious PMA show formed the perfect backdrop to formal presentations of the awards. Ian Burley, general manager of DIWA presented a framed silver award certificate to Akira Watanabe, senior manager product planning Olympus Imaging Systems Group and Yasuo Asakura, director product development Olympus Imaging Systems Group, holding their Gold DIWA award certificates and Ulrich Goetze, European marketing manager.


Two DIWA top awards for Olympus E-1 and E-System

The Digital Imaging Websites Association (DIWA), a new industry organisation that seeks out the best in imaging products and recognises them in the form of DIWA gold, silver and bronze medal awards, today awards Olympus Corporation a DIWA Gold medal for the Olympus E-1 in the category of Professional System Camera. In addition, DIWA has decided to make a supplementary Innovation award in recognition of the Olympus E-System, which is in turn based on the new open Four Thirds standard. Consistently high scores were returned by DIWA testers reviewing a number of different Olympus E-1 samples. At the lower cost end of the professional system digital SLR camera market, DIWA's Olympus E-1 testers liked the camera's robust, weather-proofed design.


Casio QV-R40 digital camera nets DIWA Silver Award

A DIWA Silver medal has been awarded to Casio Computer Co., Ltd (Consumer Products division) in recognition of the fine results achieved by the Casio QV-R40 digital camera when tested independently by several DIWA testers throughout Europe. The Casio QV-R40 is a very compact, fast-operating four megapixel digital camera that is affordable and easy to use. A number of different samples of this Casio model were tested independently by DIWA member testers and the combined scores for the QV-R40 achieved the necessary score to earn a DIWA Silver medal in the category of Amateur Compact Camera. Kai Thon, DIWA's test manager, observed: "With the Casio QV-R40, a new standard is set for user-friendly compact digital cameras."


DIWA makes inaugural awards

DIWA, the Digital Imaging Websites Association, today announces three digital camera product awards, the first such awards from this recently launched industry organisation. Since November last year, testers from DIWA member websites covering the four corners of Europe have evaluated and compiled test scores for dozens of cameras. DIWA's rigorous technically-based scoring system has produced two winning cameras to date: the Olympus E-1 and the Casio QV-R40. The latter merits a DIWA Silver medal in the category of Amateur Compact camera and the Olympus E-1 a Gold medal in the category of Professional System camera. In addition, DIWA has chosen to make a special award to Olympus.
