Samsung today unveiled its latest digital camcorders models, including its first 2.11 Megapixel CCD digital camcorder VP-D907i, the 1 Megapixel digital camcorder VP-D903i and the eye-catching 2-in-1 DuoCam VP-D6050i. The new series of Samsung DV camcorders feature enhanced digital video shooting functionalities, which make them the perfect digital mates for Christmas, allowing users to enjoy video recording anytime, anywhere. VP-D907i is Samsung's first 2.11 Megapixel digital camcorder, offering the best image quality. The new DV camcorder features a 1/3.6", 2.11 Megapixel CCD sensor. The new series of Samsung DV Camcorders feature a slim and compact form, which together with their simple operating functions and other innovative functionalities, makes them the perfect digital mate for summer, allowing people to enjoy video recording anytime, anywhere. Canon announces its 2.2 Megapixel MVX20i (12x zoom) and MVX25i (14x zoom) camcorders. We already have seen this new product during our CeBIT 2004 visit, but we did not mention the new DuoCam in our CeBIT 2004 report. It is an interesting combination of video and high resolution photo in one. Samsung Electronics continues its leadership in digital convergence innovation with the second-generation DuoCam VP-D6050i, which combines the best technology from DSC (digital still photography) and Mini-DV (digital video). The new DuoCam VP-D6050i improves on the swivel lens design by incorporating dedicated DV and DSC lenses in one body. The new design offers a more compact package, similar in size to other Mini DV camcorders, but packs all the features consumers have come to expect from individual DV camcorders and DSCs.

Sony did not only introduced new digital still cameras during PMA 2004, but DVD handycams as well! You can skip the movie rental store and be the star of your own DVD video with Sony's new line of DVD Handycam camcorders with their lightweight, portable designs and easy-to-use features. The DCR-DVD101 and DCR-DVD201 camcorders weigh just over a pound and are small enough to fit into a jacket pocket. For added convenience, both models have a mini joystick controller on the outside of the units to easily navigate through the camcorders' menu systems. Sony's DVD camcorders record on 3-inch DVD-R and DVD-RW media and each model incorporates a 2.5-inch SwivelScreen hybrid LCD display with a start/stop record button on the frame.


Sony USA introduces new line camcorders

Today Sony USA introduces six new Handycam MiniDV camcorder models for the American based market. Sony has redesigned three of its MiniDV models, the DCR-HC20, DCR-HC30 and DCR-HC40, averaging 25 percent less in volume over last years' models. By adopting touch-screen technology for access to the camcorders menu system and incorporating a built-in lens cover, these models are not only ultra portable but are ergonomically sound. In addition to changing their look, Sony has advanced some of the special Handycam camcorder features for all its MiniDV camcorders. One in particular is the new NightShot Plus system that allows for recording in darkness while delivering more natural colour to video.


Panasonic introduces two new 3CCD camcorders

Panasonic brought a whole bunch of new products to the CES show in Las Vegas. Among them were the new Panasonic PV-GS120 and PV-GS200 camcorders featuring Leica Optics and 3CCD technology. The new models produce motion and still images with true-to-life colour and expressive detail. These top-of-the-line camcorders incorporate the same type of 3CCD imaging system used in Panasonic’s celebrated professional camcorders. Individual CCDs are used to reproduce the red, green and blue colours that compose an image for vivid, true-to-life pictures with remarkable depth and presence. They also boast the sophisticated Leica Dicomar lens, which has become known for its ability to capture and finely render the most delicate nuances of light and shade.
