PMA introduction: Nikon Coolpix 5200

During PMA Nikon announced another new Coolpix member; the Coolpix 5200. This easy-to-operate digital camera delivers high 5.1 Megapixel quality and a selection of useful functions. The newly developed 3x optical Zoom-Nikkor lens with a focal range of 7.8 to 23.4mm (equivalent to a 38-114mm lens in 35mm format) assures high image quality. Its newly developed compact lens ensures optimal clarity through the use of a glass ED element and aspherical elements. Featuring aspherical elements and an ED glass element, it achieves a significant reduction in aberration. It has also been specially designed to retract to an extent that complements the camera's slim design.


Nikon is introducing new Coolpix 4200

Again we can add a new camera to our database. This time it is Nikon who is introducing a new easy-to-use digital camera with a 4 effective Megapixels resolution and a handful of useful functions. The Coolpix 4200 features a newly developed 3x optical Nikkor zoom lens with a focal range of 7.8 to 23.4mm (equivalent to 38-114mm lens in 35mm format). This new lens is featuring aspherical elements and an ED glass element which is usually only seen in high-end models. This ED element helps to reduce aberration, but is also helping to reduce the dimensions of the body. The Coolpix 4200 is equipped with a CCD offering 4 effective Megapixels which will ensure rich detailed recorded images.

The launch of its new Digimax 370 and 430 digital cameras at PMA 2004 means another entry level camera with a very interesting price tag. An economical 4.0 megapixel auto focus camera with 2.8x optical and 4x digital zoom, the Samsung Digimax 430 has an approximate street price of $229.99. The 430 has a 1/2.5-inch CCD that captures crisp images and a 1.5-inch color TFT LCD that enables users to quickly and easily review and preview. The 5cm macro mode allows users to capture crisp, clear images of subject matter as close as 5cm from the camera's lens.

Last week visitors of the Amazon website were looking at a complete new line up from Samsung cameras. During the day before the PMA in Las Vegas kicks off Samsung showed their new series of Digimax digital cameras. We now introduce to you the new 5 Megapixel camera; Digimax V5. This model is one of the three models added to the Digimax V series. The others one V models are introduced in the next article. The Digimax V5 offers Schneider optics, support for nine different power sources, three customizable user profile settings and a super macro feature that gives the user the opportunity to get as close as 6cm away from the subject. Beside having a resolution of 5 Megapixels the V50 features 3x optical zoom.


Samsung launches new range of entry level cameras

During PMA Samsung announced the launch of its new Samsung Digimax 401, 301 and 202 digital cameras. At 4, 3.14 and 2 effective Megapixels respectively, the Digimax 401, 301 and 202 combine to form a new range of entry level compact digital still cameras designed specifically for first time users and promotional purposes. Like all Samsung digital still cameras, each of these new models was designed to be the price/performance leader in its respective class. These three new entry level cameras underscore that strategy, as they all offer a host of features not commonly found in products within their respective price ranges. All three cameras are highly compact, measuring just 98x38x51 mm, and all offer a unique double self timer feature.

Designed for sporting events, travel, nature hikes or any occasion when a more detailed view is important, the new CAMEDIA C-765UZ is the smallest digital camera in the world featuring an optical 10x zoom (as of January 2004). Thanks to its light weight and easy handling, this camera gives the user the flexibility needed to capture the spontaneous details of distant subjects.
