Panasonic introduces new 5 Megapixel DMC-LC1

Back in October 2003 we informed you about the development of a new camera, the DMC-LC1. The DMC-LC1 has a digital brain but the heart and soul of a finely crafted 35mm camera, right down to its controls. A true breakthrough in digital camera craftsmanship, the 5-megapixel DMC-LC1 brings a traditional photographic experience to the digital world, evoking the look, feel, precision, and responsiveness of a 35mm camera. Zoom, focus and aperture are manually controlled by ring settings on the lens; shutter speed is controlled by a dial located on the top of the unit. Concord announces new Concord 5345z camera

Olympus goes 8MP with C-8080 WIDE ZOOM

On top of all introductions Olympus has made during the first day of the PMA in Las Vegas we can now introduce to you a top model, CAMEDIA C-8080 WIDE ZOOM. This 8 million pixel digital camera, protected by a magnesium alloy body, features a 5x wide zoom lens, a specially designed Sunshine LCD and a short release time lag. Over the years, CCD resolutions have shot up, lenses have been greatly improved and the cameras' internal processing systems have seen many optimisations. However, when it comes to their LCD monitors, there's still one incredibly frustrating problem. In bright light, it's often impossible to see the picture in the monitor. The new Sunshine LCD puts an end to this.


Casio launches two new cameras: EX-Z30 and EX-Z40

Well, just when you thought you have published all those camera introductions Casio unveils another pair of digital cameras. Today we can inform you about the new EXILIM EX-Z30 and EX-Z40 cameras. The new EXILIM models EX-Z30 and EX-Z40 are compact digital cameras with 3 resp. 4 Megapixels resolution and 3x optical zoom. CASIO's own newly developed "Triple Stack MCM (Multi Chip Module)" Technology enables a space-saving module form. Introduced during the PMA 2004, but without almost any reaction from the media, we inform you about the new Kodak DSLR. Is this the camera that should have been the DCS 14n? Strengthening its commitment to push the boundaries of high-end digital camera technology while delivering outstanding image quality and ease of use, Eastman Kodak Company unveiled the new Kodak Professional DCS Pro SLR/n digital camera. The latest addition to Kodak's venerable professional camera portfolio, the DCS Pro SLR/n digital camera contains a new high performance imaging system with an entirely new 35 mm size CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) sensor, which delivers 14 million pixels with a total available ISO range of 6 to 1600.


New Fujifilm FinePix F710 Zoom announced

We are a little bit behind with some articles due to our trip to the PMA show in Las Vegas and an extra visit to some friends in Florida, so we catch up with the latest Fujifilm digital camera introduction. Last week Fujifilm has unveiled a new addition to its digital camera range based on the company's highly-acclaimed Super CCD SR technology: the FinePix F710 Zoom. The FinePix F710 Zoom enters Fujifilm's range as a partner to the FinePix F700 Zoom, which has won more awards than any other camera in the company's compact digital line-up. The new model ups the ante further with a 4x zoom lens, widescreen LCD display and a pop-up flash. The F700 model will continue to be available alongside the F710.


Konica Minolta announces development DSLR camera

During the press conference held in the PMA convention centre Konica Minolta announced the development of the first interchangeable-lens digital SLR camera. The new model will be named Dynax 7 or Maxxum 7 Digital depending on the market they will appear on. The new DSLR camera will go on sale in autumn of 2004. The Dynax 7 Digital/Maxxum 7 Digital will accept the Minolta A mount, compatible with the full range of Minolta AF lenses, as well as Dynax/Maxxum system accessories. Combining the best of established 35mm system photography with digital photography affords photographers the ability to more fully express themselves than ever before.


Sony presents new Cyber-shot series during PMA

Consumers will have an easy choice when deciding on a new digital camera this Spring, as Sony brings three ease of use, high picture quality models to market. The latest additions to the Cyber-shot range are the Cyber-shot P43, complemented by the 3x optical zoom Cyber-shot P73 and Cyber-shot P93, all representing a dramatic leap in operational speed and Stamina power efficiency for point-and-shoot digital photography. With a top resolution of 5.1 effective Megapixels, the range takes advantage of Sony's new Real Imaging Processor. PMA introduction of new Sony Cyber-shot W1

Sony has announced the first in a brand new series of quality Cyber-shot cameras that will appeal to the more traditional photographer. Sony's engineers have combined a high quality Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens with a 3x optical zoom in a robust yet compact aluminium metal body. In addition the new Cyber-shot W1 benefits from the latest technology in the form of Sony's powerful Real Imaging Processor and a 5.1 effective Megapixel Super HAD CCD for superior image quality, increased stamina and rapid camera operation. These superb elements are combined with greater creative freedom such as manual exposure control. However, one of the Cyber-shot W1 camera's greatest attributes is the large 2.5-inch LCD.


New Polaroid X530 uses Foveon X3 sensor

Foveon Inc., a technology leader in high-quality digital image capture products, announced during PMA that a new Polaroid brand digital camera will incorporate the 4.5 megapixel Foveon X3 direct image sensor. The camera is the world's first point-and-shoot digital camera to incorporate X3 technology. Foveon X3 direct image sensors are the only image sensors that directly capture color in three layers, just like color film. This results in richer colours, warmer tones, and sharper images than are available through traditional image sensors. First introduced in 2002, the X3 image sensor has only been available in a professional class digital camera.


The start of a new line-up: HP Photosmart R707

During PMA HP unveiled plans to revamp its digital camera line-up as part of an aggressive strategy to become a leading vendor. The new camera line will include the introduction of eight cameras with revolutionary consumer industrial design and exclusive HP technology to improve image processing and ease of use for mainstream consumers. Industry-first improvements include HP In-Camera Red-Eye Removal, which instantly removes red-eye from photos right on the camera without using a PC. The first of the new series is the HP Photosmart R707 camera. Its design is very modern, stylish and somehow familiar, but to this moment I can't recall any similarity to it. Anyway, the new Photosmart R707 is a first, and catches the eye so to speak.

Pentax unveils first Optio MX Digital Still/Movie

Just back from an evening in Vegas where we met most of the guys who are hanging around the Internet, always a pleasure! Tonight we had the opportunity to get our hands on the Optio MX camera. Actually one of the friendly girls laid her hands on it and I took some product shots, but never mind. Pentax USA has announced the introduction of the first Pentax digital still/movie camera. This innovative, palm-sized Optio MX features 3.2 effective Megapixels and 10x optical zoom to capture still images and high resolution (VGA) full motion movies on MPEG4 format with zoom capability. With advanced design and the compact dimensions of the Optio line of digital cameras, the Optio MX features an ergonomic grip handle and an articulating LCD display.
