Introduction of the new Minox DD100

The Minox DD100 is a true companion for every occasion and comes in a distinguished stainless steel look. But this small, flat camera features more than an nice design. All the controls you need are ready at your command. With a resolution of 3 million pixels and 4x digital zoom, excellent imaging results are guaranteed. Despite ultra compact dimensions of just 94 mm x 56 mm x 26 mm the new MINOX DD100 features a 1.6" TFT colour monitor which allows instant assessment of the image during and after the shot. A fast picture sequence and minimal release time lag capture spontaneous snap shots in every situation. Sanyo DSC-S4 and Sanyo DSC-S3 digital cameras : Sanyo has announced two digital cameras; Sanyo DSC-S4 and Sanyo DSC-S3. Both cameras are entry-level digital cameras with a 4 and 3.2 Megapixel resolution. The Sanyo DSC-S4 features a 2.8x optical zoom lens, the Sanyo DSC-S3 a 3x optical zoom. Both have 16MB built-in memory. To enlarge this capacity you can insert a SD or MMC card into the memory slot. The optical zoom lens of both the Sanyo DSC-S4 and Sanyo DSC-S3 features 2 aspherical lens elements to reduce the chance of chromatic aberration. The algorithm of the Sanyo DSC-S4 digital camera can reach an interpolated 8 Megapixels (3264x2448 pixels), the effective resolution of the Sanyo DSC-S3 is 3.2 Megapixels (2048x1536) pixels.


Olympus unveils Ferrari Digital Model 2004

Canon introduces new PowerShot S60 camera

It has been a while ago Canon introduced the latest Powershot S-series. Today Canon unveils its latest 5.0 Megapixel compact digital still camera, the PowerShot S60. A comprehensive array of technology firsts for the S-Series includes new lens materials which allow a reduction in lens size, enabling an elegantly sleek body shape. Also new for the S-Series is the 28-100mm (5.8-20.7mm, equivalent to 28-100mm on 35mm film ) focal length lens with 4cm macro, simultaneous RAW and JPEG file recording, optional 2x tele-converter and a 40m depth waterproof case. The camera includes a new pre-set white balance mode for underwater photography, Print/Share button, 15 second to 1/2000 sec shutter speeds, and a new user interface.

Kodak today introduced two additions to its point-and-shoot line of consumer digital cameras, the Kodak EasyShare CX7530 and Kodak EasyShare CX7330 zoom digital cameras. The EasyShare CX7530 camera is ideal for the digital photographer who wants great photos, one-touch picture taking simplicity, plus a degree of creative flexibility. It offers 5-megapixel (MP) resolution for rich photographic detail as well as the ability to enlarge photos up to 20x30 inches, a 3X optical zoom lens, an exclusive on-camera "Share" button and integrated digital photo album, and multiple pre-set scene modes. The CX7530 camera will be available worldwide beginning in July 2004 at a suggested retail price of just US$299.


Kodak unveils new EasyShare DX7440 camera

Just when you thought there are no cameras left to be introduced Kodak unveils a new 4 Megapixels digital EasyShare camera. The new EasyShare DX7440 combines high-performance photographic control, a professional-quality Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon 4x optical zoom lens (equiv. 33-132mm on a 35mm camera) and a rapid 0.2-second click-to-capture rating. Working with renowned German professional optics designer Schneider-Kreuznach, Kodak equipped the camera with an f/2.8 – 9.5 aspheric lens to provide striking edge-to-edge brightness and sharpness across the frame. Image quality is unsurpassed when compared to other 4 MP cameras, thanks in part to the Kodak Color Science image processing chip.


SMaL enables slim & stylish digital cameras by NHJ

SMaL Camera Technologies, a developer of digital imaging solutions and enabler of award-winning super-thin digital still cameras, announced today that it has enabled two new ultra-slim digital cameras by NHJ, which is making its debut in the North American consumer electronics market. Sony unveils QUALIA ultra compact digital camera

Achieving a feat in miniaturization, Sony Electronics unveiled the QUALIA 016 digital still camera measuring about the size of an index finger. This highly advanced camera incorporates the smallest available class-AF lens unit available, as well as new technologies like a thin lithium-ion battery and high packaging density to achieve a body size of W 2.7" H 0.94" D 0.66" and weight of a mere two ounces. "The QUALIA 016 is a combination of cutting edge technology, beautiful design and unprecedented form factor. These qualities are indicative of the QUALIA experience which will undoubtedly translate upon initial touch and feel of this camera," said Kenichi (Ken) Sugawara, Sony Electronics' QUALIA U.S. executive vice president.

Olympus Japan announces the introduction of the 3.2 Megapixel CAMEDIA AZ-1 compact digital camera with 3x internal optical zoom. In addition to full range of camera features, the CAMEDIA AZ-1 is equipped with a sharp, clear, Mobile Advanced Super View Display that makes it equally suitable for use as a photo viewer. Olympus Japan unveils new Camedia AZ-1 camera

Another ultra-compact at the front; Olympus Japan unveils the Camedia AZ-1. This new stylish designed model features an internal 3x optical zoom lens like we have seen before with the DiMAGE X series, or like the latest Sony DSC-T11 we informed you about some days ago. The Camedia AZ-1 comes with the world's first Mobile ASV liquid crystal display which results in a very wide angle of view of almost 160?. This 2.5-inch large display has a resolution of 215,000 pixels and due to the new Mobile ASV LCD technology the contrast is about 3x higher than the ordinary displays. Another new feature is the built-in photo album function allowing users to store their favourite photos into a virtual album and save them on the memory card.


Sony Japan unveils new Cyber-shot DSC-T11

Thanks to the Japanese site Digitalcamera.jp and DPReview we can bring you the news of a new ultra-compact Cyber-shot digital camera; DSC-T11. Till this moment we are not sure if this model will make its debut on the European and American market, but we would be surprised if it doesn't. The model looks very similar to the DSC-T1, a camera that has been introduced in October 2003. Like this model the DSC-T11 has a Carl-Zeiss Vario-Tessar internal f3.5 - f4.4 optical zoom lens with a focal range of 38-114mm (equiv. to 35mm camera). The DSC-T11 features the new Sony Real Imaging Processor circuit which will stand for fast image processing. The camera is equipped with a 1/2.4-inch Super HAD CCD and offers an effective number of 5.1 Megapixels.


CeBIT introduction of the Pentax Optio MX

Showcased in a display case during CeBIT 2004 in Hannove, Germany, but kept in al of our hands during PMA show in Las Vegas (February 2004) Pentax introduces this prototype as its highlight during the CeBIT show. I am pretty sure Photokina will give us some real exciting news. Video functionality has almost become a standard feature on modern digital cameras, however usually in a rather mediocre resolution of 160x120 or 320x240 pixels. With the Optio MX, Pentax now presents a camera the size of a cell phone that will also convince video fans with full VGA quality (640x480 pixels). And thanks to its 3.2 Megapixels resolution in the photo mode, digital photographers won't need to compromise, either.

The 4 Megapixel camera has a sleek design and will captivate users from the very first glance.
