New Polaroid X530 uses Foveon X3 sensor

Dennis Hissink : 2004-02-21 08:18:01
Foveon Inc., a technology leader in high-quality digital image capture products, announced during PMA that a new Polaroid brand digital camera will incorporate the 4.5 megapixel Foveon X3 direct image sensor. The camera is the world's first point-and-shoot digital camera to incorporate X3 technology. Foveon X3 direct image sensors are the only image sensors that directly capture color in three layers, just like color film. This results in richer colours, warmer tones, and sharper images than are available through traditional image sensors. First introduced in 2002, the X3 image sensor has only been available in a professional class digital camera.

Dennis Hissink : 2004-02-21 08:14:02
During PMA HP unveiled plans to revamp its digital camera line-up as part of an aggressive strategy to become a leading vendor. The new camera line will include the introduction of eight cameras with revolutionary consumer industrial design and exclusive HP technology to improve image processing and ease of use for mainstream consumers. Industry-first improvements include HP In-Camera Red-Eye Removal, which instantly removes red-eye from photos right on the camera without using a PC. The first of the new series is the HP Photosmart R707 camera. Its design is very modern, stylish and somehow familiar, but to this moment I can't recall any similarity to it. Anyway, the new Photosmart R707 is a first, and catches the eye so to speak.
