Dennis Hissink : 2004-02-09 15:00:00
Canon announces the new Digital IXUS camera. This brings to a total of 30 the number of IXUS models (digital and analogue) released since 1996. The 3.2 Megapixel Digital IXUS IIs takes over from the popular Digital IXUS II. Launched to popular and critical acclaim in May 1996, the original stainless steel IXUS APS camera triggered an avalanche success. Canon has stuck with IXUS ever since, never straying from the IXUS philosophy of simplicity and beauty that feels great in the hands. Released in May 2000, the first Digital IXUS marked the beginning of a string of successes for Canon in the style-conscious digital compact segment. "This new range celebrates eight stylish IXUS years," said Mogens Jensen, Head of Canon Consumer Imaging Europe.

Dennis Hissink : 2004-02-09 15:00:00
Canon introduces a replacement of the IXUS 400, the Digital IXUS 430. This new 4 Megapixel camera has, like the famous series of ISUX camera is well-known for, a high-quality stainless steel body with the traditional IXUS feel and look. Images taken with the 4.0 Megapixel Digital IXUS 430 can be printed up to A3 size without image quality degradation. The Digital IXUS 430 includes a 3.0x optical zoom. Optical zoom ensures that the full sensor size is employed when closing in on a subject, so pictures taken with the zoom do not suffer from image degradation. The new IXUS model features 9-point Artificial Intelligence Auto Focus (AiAF) for fast and sharp images, even with off-centre subjects.

The stainless steel IXUS camera is a success since 1996 and with the launch of this new top model Canon will expect to maintain the same success as in the years before. New EF28-300 f/3.5–5.6L IS USM lens from Canon

Dennis Hissink : 2004-01-29 05:00:00
Canon today releases the professional series EF28-300mm f/3.5–5.6L IS USM ultra high magnification zoom lens. With an approx. 11x zoom range covering everything from wide-angle to telephoto, Canon's latest dust and moisture proof 'white lens' is designed to appeal to professional EOS photographers looking to reduce lens changes and the number of lenses they need to carry. The lens incorporates Canon's renowned Image Stabilisation (IS) technology, compensating for approximately three stops without any perceptible increase in image blur when shooting static subjects or panning. This vastly increases the range of circumstances in which hand-held photography is possible, limiting the need to carry a tripod.
