ALPS develops two new 1.3 MP modules for mobiles

Dennis Hissink : 2004-07-05 08:53:45
ALPS has developed two new 1.3 Megapixel camera modules for mobile telephones: the FPDF0X series, and the FPDF8X series with autofocus. Sample shipments of the FPDF0X series will commence in July 2004, those of the FPDF8X in August. Recently, there has been an advancing trend toward the incorporation of cameras into mobile telephone, notebook personal computers, PDAs and other compact mobile devices. This has been particularly prominent in the case of camera-equipped mobile telephones, and of all mobile telephones that will ship worldwide in 2004, approximately one fourth, some 150 million units, will be equipped with cameras (Source: InfoTrends Research Group, Inc. of the U.S.). Rapid growth in demand for camera modules is forecast.

ALPS Electric announces RS-MMC connectors

Dennis Hissink : 2004-05-19 10:30:00
ALPS Electric has announced the development of the SCDC Series of connectors for the RS-MMC (Reduced Size Multimedia Card), a promising storage medium for mobile devices, which are growing smaller in size at a rapid pace. Full-scale shipment of samples will begin at the end of April. Mobile telephones, digital cameras, and other mobile devices continue to grow smaller and slimmer, and smaller storage media for these devices are also being developed. The Multimedia Card Association (MMCA), which standardized the Multimedia Card, announced the standards for the RS-MMC flash memory card in November 2002. The external dimensions are 24.0×18.0×1.4mm, with a weight of 0.8 grams. The SCDC Series of connectors is designed for use with the RS-MMC.
