Steve's Digicams posts Canon and Pentax reviews

Mark Peters : 2003-10-24 00:15:25
Our good friend Steve from the well-known website Steve's Digicams has posted a bunch of new reviews. The first review is about the Canon i860 Bubblejet printer. This printer is using a new 5-color ink set with separate blacks for text and photo printing. The last couple of weeks it seems that we hear almost every day about PictBridge and again this Canon printer is also PictBridge compatible. According to Steve this Canon printer is very fast and is the perfect replacement for both an all-purpose text and graphic printer and a photo printer. Looking for a new printer? Read more about this one at Steve's Digicams. The second review is about the new Canon SD10 (USA) or Digital IXUS i (Europe) camera.

DPReview tests 6, 4 and 1GB CompactFlash cards

Dennis Hissink : 2003-10-21 16:35:37
This year has been a very interesting year for flash manufacturers. 1GB is no longer an exotic flash card, even 2, 4 and 6GB cards are close in sight. Some weeks ago Pretec announced the 6GB CompactFlash type II card, quite a prestige moment for them, but the price tag of this high capacity storage card is just too high! According to the original press release the Pretec 6GB CF type II card will cost around $7999. Compared to the 1GB Ultra II CompactFlash of SanDisk, which costs around $300, it is not that difficult to predict the price winner. But prices are not everything, so they say. The performance is also very important. Phil Askey was able to get his hands on the Pretec 6GB CompactFlash type II and the Lexar 40x 4GB type II card.

Steve's Digicams reviews Pentax, Toshiba and Casio

Dennis Hissink : 2003-10-15 14:00:07
Our good friend Steve from the well-known website Steve's Digicams has finalized his reviews of three digital cameras. The first review is about the new square formatted Pentax Optio 33WR camera. This model was introduced during the IFA event in Berlin, Germany. During this event Pentax introduced three new digital cameras; Optio 555, Optio S4 and the one which Steve has reviewed, the Optio 33WR. Those of you who would like to capture their moments in the environment of water should read this review! The second review is the report about the Toshiba PDR-5300 camera. Toshiba seems to have real difficulties to gain some share of the digital camera market, but nevertheless they introduced another high-resolution camera with 3x optical zoom.

News from DigIT: new Minolta DiMAGE G400 camera

Dennis Hissink : 2003-10-14 09:44:41
Just freshly posted by our good friend Kai Thon from the Norwegian website DigIT; the new Minolta DiMAGE G400 camera. Some months ago Konica Minolta introduced their first joined brand-named camera the G500. Until now it is not sure whether this model will also be introduced on the European market, at least it will make its appearance on the Japanese and American market. Introducing a Minolta brand-only camera we can almost be sure that this version will make it to all the markets of the world. According to the information Kai mentioned in his article, the new Minolta DiMAGE G400 camera features a 4 Megapixels CCD and a 3x optical zoom. Furthermore, speed seems to be the keyword for this new model.

The DiMAGE Z1 is one of the latest series of digital cameras featuring great optical zoom lenses and new designed housings. This new model was announced in August and has gained a lot of attention since then. The camera is a SLR-type camera with 10x optical zoom, equivalent to 38-380mm 35mm camera zoom. The resolution of the CCD is 3.2 Megapixels, weight of only 305g and a very compact housing. Beside being able to capture still images the DiMAGE Z1 can capture high-quality VGA (640 X 4) movies at a frame rate pf 30fps as well.

Steve Digicams review of the Canon i960 printer

Mark Peters : 2003-09-24 10:20:39
The new Canon i960 Photo Printer has been introduced in the first week of September. The 'ink' isn't dry yet and Steve already has his review of this new Canon printer finished and online! The Canon i960 printer has a very high density print head (3,072 nozzles) for its class and is capable of precisely firing up to 73.7 million 2 picoliters droplets per second. Combining this print head precision with Canon's six ink printing system the i960 photo printer is a natural for creating grain free photo prints with unsurpassed clarity, contrast, colour range, and tone. Is it capable of bringing the theory into practice? Well Steve of the well-known website Steve's Digicams has got some answers on this one.

Restyling of Kai Thon's DigIT website

Mark Peters : 2003-09-22 13:00:36
It has been four years now Kai Thon decided to go public with this website about Digital Imaging. Since the day DigIT became a fact Kai was literally sucked into this very active and fast world of news, scoops, reviews, links, etc. We know our good friend Kai has a lot of experience in the field and is always absorbing all the new innovations. But instead of keeping it for himself he shares all those facts with his loyal readers. His website is written in Norwegian, but this is no barrier for a lot of non-Norwegian visitors, including us, to visit now and then. His thorough and high-skilled reviews of entry-level or professional cameras are well-known and an example for many of us.
