Sony LD Shot Ink Trajectory Control technology

Sony Corporation today announced the development of LD Shot (Lateral Deflection Shot) ink trajectory control technology that, when used in conjunction with Line Head method inkjet printing, enables near photograph quality images to be printed in as quick as six seconds. Having already introduced a lineup of dye sublimation printers, Sony aims to further enhance its standing in the growing printer market by using LD Shot technology to facilitate the development of a Line Head inkjet printer for practical use. With continuing advancement in digital still camera technology and resulting increased quality of photographed images, printer capabilities have also developed to a level where near photograph quality printouts can now be realized.


Sony unveils new 4-color filter CCD

Sony Corporation today announced the world's first practical consumer (home) use of CCD with 4-color (Red ,Green , Blue and Emerald) filters, together with a new image processor corresponding to the 4-color filter. By this technology, the color reproduction error is halved compared to Sony's conventional 3-primary-color filter CCD and, expression of images closer to the natural sight perception of the human eye is achieved under various shooting conditions. Conventional digital still cameras mainly use 3-primary-color filter CCD, and the colors are recorded by the intensity of each of the 3 colors, Red(R), Green(G) and Blue(B), corresponding to the color reproduction characteristics of the color TV or monitors.


New Memory Stick Line-up is Compact and High-speed

Sony UK has announced that the Memory Stick has become smaller in size and faster in transferring data. Sony has evolved the Memory Stick Duo at one third the volume and one half the weight of the standard Memory Stick launched last September to offer users a high-speed data transfer of up to 160Mbps, making it more suitable for speedy data transfer among a wide range of mobile electronic devices such as digital still cameras, mobile phones, PCs and PDAs. The new Memory Stick Duo has 128MB capacity and incorporates a parallel interface, allowing users to quickly view stored content. It can be used in most of the existing Memory Stick Duo enabled products and other Memory Stick enabled products via a supplied adapter.


New Sony pocket Cyber-shot U range

Sony Europe today announces two pocket digital still cameras in its Cyber-shot U range that are close to making the digital still camera an essential lifestyle accessory. First is the DSC-U30, one of the most compact digital still cameras available in its class and the successor to the popular DSC-U20, a model which introduced the concept of the digital still camera as a pocket accessory. Next, the sporty DSC-U60 is the first waterproof pocket digital still camera in the Cyber-shot U range. A host of new features for both models include a hybrid LCD screen, more scene selection functions, enlarged playback and compatibility with Memory Stick PRO.
