Sony USA unveils DSR-PD170 DVCAM camcorder

Sony has introduced the DSR-PD170 compact camcorder to its DVCAM line of professional video equipment, the fastest-growing professional video format with more than 400,000 units sold worldwide. The new DSR-PD170 builds on the legacy of its predecessor model, the DSR-PD150, the overwhelming choice of video professionals in applications ranging from corporate and educational production to ENG/EFP, television and independent cinema production. "The DSR-PD170 distinguishes itself with the addition of several performance and ergonomic enhancements, many of which are the direct result of customer feedback," said Robert Ott, vice president of professional audio and video products for Sony Electronics' Broadcast and Production Systems Division.


Sony replaces DCR-VX2000 with DCR-VX2100 camera

Back in September we informed you about an update of the successful DCR-VX2000 camera. During the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam (11-16 Sept.) Sony mentioned some details regarding this upgrade, but we now have the full details for you. The new 3-CCD DV Camcorder DCR-VX2100 will get more enhancements then its predecessor, but will remain at the same price. In other words, getting more camera but without having to pay for the extras. For a long time the DCR-VX2000 was most popular among video journalist, news gatherers and videographers worldwide. But also in this area developments and innovations are always continuing and after three strong years Sony decided to develop an advanced model of the DCR-VX2000 camera.


Sony Updates DCR-VX2000 Camcorder to DCR-VX2100

In conjunction with other major announcements at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) on September 11-16 in Amsterdam, Sony Europe has released details of the DCR-VX2100, a forthcoming 3 CCD DV camcorder that will replace the best selling DCR-VX2000. Launching soon, the new model adds significant enhancements to the proven video capture capabilities of the DCR-VX2000. As well as the same superior picture quality and performance, the camera’s minimum illumination has been increased, resulting in even better recording in low light conditions. Audio quality also receives a boost with more accurate sampling during manual recording. There is also the addition of a Hybrid LCD Panel for monitoring recording and playback.
