Sharp introduces new 6 Megapixels CCD sensor

Dennis Hissink : 2003-12-17 12:05:51
First caught by Phil Askey from DPReview we can bring you some more information about a new sensor Sharp is introducing today. In the upcoming weeks we will see some new camera introductions that will take place just before and during the CES show in Las Vegas (8-11 January 2004). If Sharp is going to provide their new 1/1.8-inch 6 Megapixels sensors we don't know yet, but 2004 seems to gonna be the year of high, higher and highest resolutions! The new Sharp sensor is called RJ21T3AA0PT/ST and will be mass-produced in January 2004. The size of this sensor ensures an easy upgrade from the existing 5 Megapixels cameras into a 6 Megapixels one. The resolution of this new 1/1.8-inch 6 Megapixels sensor will be 2934x2167 pixels.

Sharp develops Ultra Wide-Angle Viewing LCD module

Dennis Hissink : 2003-10-05 01:50:20
Sharp Corporation announced the development of a new LCD module featuring ultra-wide viewing that enables clear display of images seen from all angles, making it ideal for use in mobile devices such as mobile phones, PDAs, and digital still cameras. Leveraging the company's proprietary mobile Advanced Super View LCD technology to provide a wide viewing angle, high contrast, and quick response, the module is slated to be sample shipped starting in December 2003, with volume production to begin next spring. At this moment it is not known which camera brand will use this new Wide-Angle Viewing LCD module. Maybe the upcoming events like PMA 2004 and CeBIT 2004 will give us some new cameras with this new LCD built-in.
