SanDisk Corporation today announced that it is offering a comprehensive software development tool kit for Symbian OS that supports all of the major removable and embedded flash memory storage card formats including Memory Stick(R), Memory Stick Pro/Duo, MultiMediaCard, SD/miniSD cards and SanDisk's embedded Tri-Flash(TM) product. SanDisk's development tool kit is designed to help developers and designers quickly integrate support for removable flash storage cards in new mobile phone designs. Flash memory cards are becoming very popular in new generations of mobile phones that incorporate content-intensive features such as digital cameras, games and MP3 music files, also known as "smartphones."

The coveted CNET Editors' Choice award recognizes outstanding computing and electronics products that represent the best available choice for quality, performance, design, and service. The review states that SanDisk's ConnectPlus 128MB CompactFlash + Wi-Fi "is the most versatile CompactFlash Wi-Fi adapter seen, and it's the best option for adding wireless to a PDA." SanDisk and Toshiba expand NAND Flash production

Toshiba Corporation and SanDisk Corporation today announced that they intend to cooperate in the construction of a new 300-millimeter (mm) wafer fabrication facility at Toshiba's Yokkaichi operations in order to meet growing demand for NAND flash memory. The move is expected to allow mass production in the new facility to be advanced to the second half of Toshiba's FY2005 from the originally planned FY2006 that Toshiba announced last December. Toshiba currently plans to start construction of the building in the first half of FY2004. Non-volatile NAND flash memory is the storage memory of choice in diverse mobile products, including digital still cameras and multimedia mobile phones.


Spectrum to represent SanDisk in Nordic and Baltic

SanDisk Corporation announced today that it has extended its partnership with the Spectrum Group of independent sales, marketing and operations (I.S.M.O) companies into the Scandinavian and Baltic territories. The appointment makes Spectrum Nordic responsible for direct sales of SanDisk's OEM and industrial grade products to key OEM accounts, and for sales conducted via SanDisk's distribution channel, in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark, and in the Baltic countries of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The Spectrum Nordic appointment is a furtherance of the long established alliance between SanDisk and the Spectrum Group. Spectrum organizations already represents SanDisk in France, Spain & Portugal, Italy the UK and Ireland.


SanDisk will manufacture Fujifilm-branded xD cards

SanDisk Corporation today announced it signed an agreement with Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd., that covers the xD-Picture Card format. Under the agreement, Fujifilm and SanDisk established a framework for collaboration in the manufacture and distribution of Fujifilm-branded xD-Picture Cards. SanDisk will manufacture Fujifilm-branded xD-Picture Cards for Fujifilm and supply these xD-Picture Cards to Fujifilm for distribution through Fujifilm's global retail distribution channels. SanDisk will also sell xD-Picture Cards under the Fujifilm brand through SanDisk's global retail distribution channels. SanDisk will begin shipments of Fujifilm xD-Picture Cards in the current quarter.

The announcement was made at the CTIA trade show in Las Vegas, where SanDisk is demonstrating products in booth #929. Hutchison 3G UK Limited delivers third-generation mobile multimedia and communications services under the 3 brand in the UK, offering a convergence of media, information and telephony to enable live video calls, multimedia content and entertainment while on the move.


SanDisk expands sales of retail products in China

SanDisk today announced that it has expanded retail sales in China and signed its first 3 retail distributors in China. The announcement was made at a SanDisk press conference in Shanghai. SanDisk, which started selling its products at a limited number of retail stores in China a year ago, is today selling its products at more than 200 retail outlets in China with plans to add more stores in 2004 and 2005. Nelson Chan, senior vice president and general manager of SanDisk's retail business unit, said, "China, with over 1.2 billion population, represents a huge market potential for SanDisk products. Communications and entertainment devices requiring portable storage are a routine for many Chinese business people, students and consumers."
