Lexar Media WA supported by Sigma SD9 SLR camera

Lexar Media, a leading designer, developer and marketer of award-winning high-performance digital media and accessories, today announced that the Sigma SD9 digital SLR camera, which features the FoveonÃ’ X3 image sensor, will support Lexar Media's Write Acceleration (WA) standard with a recently released firmware upgrade available on Sigma's Website. Write Acceleration technology is enabled by firmware residing in both the camera and CompactFlash card. When a WA enabled camera detects a WA enabled card, the two are able to transfer data with less overhead, thereby increasing write speed.Lexar Media introduced Write Acceleration in its Professional Series CompactFlash cards in September 2002.


Lexar Media and Olympus agree on xD Picture card

Lexar Media, a leading designer, developer and marketer of award-winning high-performance digital media and accessory products, and Olympus Optical Co., a world leader in the development and marketing of digital cameras, today announced a significant expansion of their relationship with the signing of a new OEM and technology licensing agreement. Under the new agreement, Lexar Media will now be offering xD-Picture Cards in Lexar packaging through many of its 37,000 worldwide retail outlets. Lexar Media has also agreed to license its patents to Olympus for the xD-Picture Cards and host devices sold to Olympus' retail customers or bundled with Olympus cameras. Lexar Media and Olympus also agreed to future joint technology development.
