Eastman Kodak Company today introduced the Kodak Professional DCS Pro 14n Digital Camera in a 512MB RAM version that delivers a greater burst depth for superb performance and flexibility. In addition, Kodak in late September will post on its website firmware v4.4 for the Pro 14n camera as well as the updated Kodak Professional DCS Photo Desk v3.2 software for all Kodak Professional DCS digital cameras. Kodak also announced that the Pro 14n camera the world's highest resolution, upgradeable, full-frame digital SLR camera that's compatible with Nikon lenses is out of backorder and is available immediately from authorized dealers of Kodak Professional digital cameras worldwide.

Its four-slot design accommodates SD Card , MultiMediaCard (MMC), CompactFlash (CF), Memory Stick, SmartMedia, and Microdrive cards, making it simple to rapidly transfer data to and from connected computer via USB High Speed (480Mb/second). Kodak releases firmware update 4.3.1 for the DCS Pro 14n. The new following problems are fixed: A custom white balance issue, an intermittent problem with black images has been fixed and a compatibility issue with newer Microdrives. Additionally, an abundant amount of new features is made avialable with this firmware update. Kodak releases at the same time software updates for Kodak DCS Photo Desk version 3.1.0 and the Kodak Camera Manager version 3.1.0. Some new features are: Improved in-camera JPG color and improved DCR raw file color when using KODAK PROFESSIONAL DCS Photo Desk version 3.1 or later, Improved DCF file system. File names and folder name structure is unchanged but important changes in the way the camera handles folders.

Kodak CCD sensor powers Olympus Four Third system

Eastman Kodak Company today announced that Olympus Optical Co., Ltd. of Japan has selected an enhanced version of the Kodak KAF-5101CE charge-coupled device (CCD) image sensor for its new Olympus E-1 Digital Single Lens Reflex (D-SLR) camera system, the first digital camera designed for the emerging Four Thirds System standard. The enhanced KAF-5101CE was designed and developed in conjunction with Olympus to match the exact optical characteristics of the E-1 camera (see today's related news from Olympus, Olympus Introduces Interchangeable Lens Type E-1 Digital SLR Camera Systems for Professional Use). The Kodak KAF-5101CE sensor is an enhanced 5.1 million pixel full-frame color CCD sensor.


Kodak introduces three new EasyShare cameras

Without any pre-information about this trio Kodak suddenly announces three new digital cameras. The new EasyShare DX6440 camera is the most advanced of the three new ones. It is equipped with a 4 Megapixel resolution CCD and a 4x optical Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon lens. New details are also an exclusive high-speed and low-light precision AF system and a new Kodak Color Science image processing algorithm. The second announcement is the EasyShare CX6330. This camera has a 3.1 Megapixel resolution and a 3x optical zoom lens. There are no specific new details on this one; it looks like an entry-level digital camera within the range of EasyShare cameras. The last one is the entry-level and price breaking EasyShare CX6200.
