Dennis Hissink : 2003-10-22 13:37:59
Today Sony USA announced a new Cyber-shot camera, the DSC-U40. This Ultra slim designed 2 Megapixel camera is a new member of the U-series. First we had the DSC-U10 and before we know it we are looking at a complete line of U-cameras. This DSC-U40 is another new Sony camera that is supporting the Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick PRO Duo. This smaller form factor is starting to gain its share among the Sony cameras and according to prognoses of one of the leading flash manufacturers it will become a major player in the upcoming years. The new DSC-U40 will be available in different colours although we don't have information on the availability in Europe yet. I hope to get some more up-to-date information this day.

Dennis Hissink : 2003-10-21 10:59:47
Four months before this new FinePix model will be available Fujifilm UK decided to announce this new updated F410z camera. The last couple of weeks we see more and more brands updating their cameras to make sure that they don't miss the PictBridge support. The new FinePix F420z seems to be more fine-tuned compared to the FinePix F410z camera. The body of this new model is made of metal and measures 77x69x26.4mm, a little bit smaller then its predecessor. The FinePix F420z features the 4th generation Super CCD HR (High Resolution) technology which will provide 3 million effective pixels, but will produce 6 million recorded pixels. The F420z has a Fujinon 3x optical zoom lens equivalent to 36-108mm on a 35mm camera.

Kyocera Japan introduces Finecam L30 camera

Dennis Hissink : 2003-10-18 17:51:08
The introduction was first noticed by the guys from Digicamezine who reported this introduction yesterday. Kyocera pops up another digital compact camera. At this moment we don't have information whether this model will also make it to the European and American market. A few weeks ago Kyocera Japan introduced a rather colourful Finecam SL300R. This model is more fashionable than the one we are talking about right now. The new Finecam L30 has the look of an ordinary 3 Megapixel camera, a design that is not that special. When we are looking at the specifications we see the standard 3x optical zoom, the 3 Megapixel resolutions CCD, Secure Digital/MultiMedia support, etc. The new feature of this model is the MPEG4 recording.

Konica Minolta introduces new DiMAGE G400 camera

Dennis Hissink : 2003-10-15 00:18:35
This morning we told you about the Minolta G400 article Kai Thon had published. At that moment we were not sure if this new model would also make its appearance on the European market. In the meantime Konica Minolta in Europe released their announcement, so things were just happening close after each other. The new DiMAGE G400 is a high-performance digital camera housed in a slim, stylish body. This 4.0 megapixel camera creates beautiful images at the touch of a button. In spite of its size, the DiMAGE G400 has powerful imaging tools and a dual memory-card slot. The DiMAGE G400 has a newly designed signal-processing engine with a 0.7 second start-up time.

Olympus Japan updates 5 cameras with PictBridge

Dennis Hissink : 2003-10-07 19:29:38
I just returned home from my visit to the office of Olympus Netherlands, took place behind my pc and got this announcement fresh in the mailbox. What a timing.. Well, Olympus will support PictBridge in future cameras and has made a start with the update of the two Digital Mju (Stylus) cameras, the C-750, C-740 and the C-350 (Europe name) cameras. At this moment all I know is that C-750 and the C-740 will turn into the C-755 and the C-745. The update of the C-350 will now support PictBridge. The camera features a 3.2 Megapixels CCD and 3x optical zoom. On the back of the camera is a 1.8-inch LCD display which is still remarkable for this kind of camera, most of them have 1.6-inch or smaller.
