NikonNikon Europe sponsors Wild Wonders of Europe : Nikon Europe announced its sponsorship of a pan-European photographic initiative to highlight the continent’s superb natural heritage: Wild Wonders of Europe. This unique project, involving more than 50 of Europe’s top photographers on some 100 assignments in over 40 countries, is scheduled to be the most spectacular wildlife show ever seen and aims to inspire the citizens of Europe to look after and protect their own natural habitat. Nikon is delighted to sponsor this significant project with photographic equipment and promotion through the Nikon media channels.

Martina Beckmann, Manager Communications and Marketing Services at Nikon Europe B.V.: “We all have a responsibility to ensure the continued health of our natural environment. Nikon Europe is convinced Wild Wonders will bring to life Europe’s flora and fauna for many thousands of people, first-hand and through the generation chain. Nikon has been committed to nature photographers for many years now, and many of them trust our equipment in their challenging working conditions. The work they deliver is the best evidence for the great performance of our latest generation of cameras and lenses.”

Best nature photographers
In May 2008, Wild Wonders of Europe started to send 50 of Europe's best nature photographers to photograph the best of Europe's nature. They travel to all corners of the continent - each to a country other than their own. Their images, podcasts and video diaries are featured on the huge, spectacular Wild Wonders of Europe website with interactive content and daily updates. Plans for 2009 and 2010 include major exhibitions in all European countries, a large-format coffee-table book in several languages and AV shows throughout Europe.

Wild Wonders of Europe
Staffan Widstrand, Managing Director Wild Wonders of Europe: “There are millions of people around Europe who think this beautiful continent’s nature and wildlife has disappeared under concrete. This is simply not true. Many of Europe's natural treasures are still around, as magnificent as ever. They are there to be enjoyed - by everyone. If we take care of these treasures, our children and beyond will be able to celebrate nature as well. We hope that this initiative will help bring alive the beauty around us to many more in Europe, and make them treasure what they have.”
