 Nikon D700 Sample Photos : During a business trip to Monaco I had some time to shoot sample photos with the new Nikon D700. Unfortunately the sun was shining with high temperatures, so high ISO photos were out of the question. As soon as I have finished the full Nikon D700 test, high ISO photos will be part of the review. The new Nikon D700 was introduced the first of July and is for many Nikon enthusiast and SLR photographers quite a surprise. 12 Megapixels, compact body and the same image sensor as the professional Nikon D3; some pretty interesting specs! Currently I have a full production model in the office, at the same time there is also a second Nikon D700 tested by Kai Thon, DIWA's test manager, at the DIWA Labs in Norway.

The Nikon D700 inherits the ‘must have’ image quality of the Nikon D3. Using the same core technologies such as the highly-sensitive 12.1 effective megapixel CMOS image sensor with large pixel pitch and gapless micro lens array that affords bright, clean files across a broad ISO range. The Nikon D700 also features the same innovative EXPEED high-speed image-processing system, 14-bit A/D conversion and 16-bit processing pipeline to provide the detail and smooth gradation necessary for outstanding print enlargement and reproduction. The Nikon D700 Digital SLR camera is supplied with the Nikon EN-EL3e battery, Nikon battery charger, and Nikon Software Suite and will go on sale on 25th July 2008 with a MSRP guide price of €2599. (calculated in USD 4,093.43 and GBP 2,052.24).

The sample photos taken with the Nikon D700 are photographed in Monaco. Remarkable features of the Nikon D700 DSLR are a solid built camera body, an out-side look of the Nikon D300, but remarkable comparable with the inside of the Nikon D3, Image Sensor Cleaning, 5 fps and the praised image sensor also found in the D3. At this moment there is no real competition, beside the ‘old’ Canon EOS 5D. Interesting times are coming up with IFA at the end of August and of course the world’s biggest digital imaging event Photokina. The second half of this year promised to become one of the most interesting quarters for digital SLR enthusiasts!
