SamsungSamsung Soul Photo Gallery : During a Samsung press conference on a sunny day in The Netherlands, we were given the opportunity to shoot some sample photos with the Samsung Soul mobile phone. The press conference was held at the castle 'De Hooge Vuursche in Baarn. Despite the limited time we had to take the Samsung Soul on a stroll to shoot some sample photos, we were still able to get a good impression of the photo quality, the functions and the operation of the Samsung Soul. The Samsung Soul's main features are the innovative touchpad monitor, fast 7.2 Mbps HSDPA connection availability, a 5 Megapixel digital camera with auto focus, face detection and (electronic) image stabilization.

Castle De Hooge Vuursche
The Samsung Soul photos were taken inside and around Castle 'de Hooge Vuursche' in Baarn, the Netherlands. Eduard Cuypers is the architect of castle 'de Hooge Vuursche' that opened in 1912. A mercantile marine officer, Johannes Adrianus van den Bosch and his spouse named Barnesse van Hardenbroek ordered the building of the castle. Famous Dutch artists added many ornaments to the exterior of the castle. In 1939 the castle reopened as a hotel-restaurant but was severely damaged by a huge fire after the first year of its reopening. Meanwhile, the castle has had various owners; Heineken (a Dutch beer brewer) is one of them. As from 2006 the mansion belongs to the Event Company and has been renovated in 2007. It turned out to be the perfect location for Samsung's press conference. Even the weather played along and we were able to enjoy some sunshine.

Samsung Soul Mobile photography
Unfortunately the Samsung Soul shows yet again that photo-taking with a mobile phone is not yet where we would like it to be; at the same level as that of a compact digital camera. The shutter lag is annoying within mobile photography and remains to annoy. Fast moving objects can't be captured correctly due to the shutter lag. It took the compact camera a few years to get rid of this lag so even with today's enhanced technological possibilities I am afraid that mobile photography will continue to suffer for some time before the release lag will have disappeared here too. Take a look at the Samsung Soul Photo Gallery.
