Olympus E420 DSLR combined with the ZUIKO 25mm Pancake lens
Besides the addition of the Olympus E-420 as the new FourThirds DSLR camera, another new kid is on the block too on the field of lenses. 'An ultra-compact DSLR camera needs an equally striking compact lens', Olympus must have thought. And if you look at the new Olympus ZUIKO Digital 25 mm 1:2.8 Pancake lens for the first time, you will be amazed. It is incredibly thin and ultra-compact with a weight of a mere 95 grams and a focal length of 50mm (equivalent to 35mm). A superb lens with a minimum focal distance of 20 cm and an aperture range of f/2.8 - f.22.
E-420 test photos taken with Olympus Pancake lens
We have tried out the Olympus E420 in combination with the ZUIKO Digital 25 mm Pancake lens and some other FourThirds lenses and we took some sample shots to get a first impression of this camera. The bad weather in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, forced me to go inside the well-known butterfly garden of the Artis Zoo, to stay dry whilst shooting with the new Olympus combination.

The Olympus E420 test photos were taken in the Artis Zoo in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The test camera used is a so-called full-production model and pictures have to be judged accordingly. The photos below have been reduced in size to correctly reproduce them and compressed to ensure faster loading times. By clicking on the photo, the original and non-edited test photo will pop-up. As soon as we have processed the test results and we're able to draw a conclusion we will publish an Olympus E420 review.
