CESCES 2008 innovation awards : MOD Systems announced the MOD Systems Consumer Kiosk, or MOD POD, has been selected as an honoree in the CES Innovations 2008 Design and Engineering Awards in the Computer Hardware category. Announced yesterday at the annual CES Unveiled Event in New York, the Innovations Design and Engineering Awards recognizes the most innovative consumer electronics products in the industry’s top categories. The MOD POD is the first honoree product to be used in retail by consumers who want to search, sample and download digital media content. “MOD Systems is incredibly proud to be a recipient of the CES Innovations 2008 Design and Engineering Awards,” said Mark Phillips, CEO and CTO of MOD Systems.

Mark Phillips added: “It is exciting to receive validation for our work creating digital delivery systems that fulfill not only the need of retailers to monetize virtual aisles of music and video content, but also provide their customers with an engaging, reliable and fun experience.” MOD Systems’ winning product, the MOD Systems Consumer Kiosk - MOD POD, has many significant advantages over standard PC-based kiosks. The MOD POD enables consumers to search, listen and purchase content by downloading to a portable device or burning to CD/DVD (when the retailer installs a CD/DVD burner in their store). The POD is retail hardened and its multimedia touchscreens provide familiarity, comfort, security and convenience amongst in-store shoppers. PODs are dynamic access points that compel shoppers to interact with the millions of media samples, demos and other digital content.

In addition, MOD Systems’ PODs cost far less to purchase and maintain than traditional PC-based systems. The high-resolution display, state-of-the-art performance, and powerful video processor provide beautiful pictures and sounds, and the POE (Power-over-Ethernet) capability eliminates the need for electrical wiring at installation. MOD will be attending International CES 2008 January 7-10, 2008 and the MOD POD will be on display in the Innovations Design and Engineering Awards Showcase at the Sands Expo and Convention Center during the event.

MOD Systems
MOD Systems’ digital media technology platform enables retailers to transform stores into digital destinations. Its powerful hardware/software solution creates a captivating in-store or online experience for consumers to search a virtual catalog of millions of digital assets, and sample, buy and download content directly to handheld devices or manufacture CD/DVDs on demand. In addition, with the MOD solution, retailers can create a highly interactive experience for customers with overhead promotions and integration capabilities, coupled with proven best practices.
