Ghita runway show sponsored by Nikon : Nikon is set to strike a pose at Style 360, an alternative Fashion Week destination. On September 11th, Nikon will act as the title sponsor for Alexis Phifer’s first, ever, Ghita runway show at the Metropolitan Pavilion. Phifer’s collection of chic eveningwear will include photo fashion looks based on the work of music and editorial photographer, Mark Seliger. “We are thrilled to be sponsoring the Ghita show as it truly represents the stunning style embodied by Nikon’s products,” said Lisa Baxt, senior communications manager, for Nikon, Inc. “By incorporating Mark Seliger’s images into the show, we are demonstrating the synergies between the art of fashion design and the art of photography.”

 Style 360 - Ghita collection
“The Ghita collection is unique and innovative, similar to the aspirations behind the Nikon brand” said Alexis Phifer, designer of Ghita. “I am excited to be working with Nikon and Mark Seliger, as they have inspired me to create four cutting-edge pieces for my New York Show.” In addition to the fashion show, Style 360 will be auctioning off one of Phifer’s photo fashion looks at Henri Bendel’s “Brown & White Ball” 100th Birthday Bash on Tuesday, September 11th. Proceeds from the auction will benefit Keep a Child Alive, an organization dedicated to providing relief for the AIDS pandemic in Africa.

Ghita runway show
The Ghita Show marks Nikon’s continued dedication to design and style. Last year, the camera brand sponsored Project Runway’s Daniel Franco’s Style Lounge Show and worked with designers Zac Posen and Alice Temperley to create stunning fashion accessores.
Ghita
Ghita is the brainchild of Los Angeles based designer, Alexis Phifer, a modest and quiet entrepreneur, but unquestionably one who is blessed with the gift of design. Absorbing every flavor, color, and melody from her far-reaching travels, it is her experiences of all cultures which remain the inspiration behind Ghita’s ethereal silhouettes and rich hues. Phifer’s designs are complimented by lively color palettes and ultra-luxurious fabrics, making the pieces undeniably suitable for the fashion-forward, young-at-heart, seeking to channel their playful, bold side in the spirit of adventure. Although her dresses maintain a classic sense of elegance, they also pay tribute to a more modern sense of design, with art-deco elements like asymmetry, tiered skirts, jumpers, and bubbly hems. Opulent bows, bias cuts, and inconspicuous straps balance out the ultra-feminine bodies. Her exploration of other cultures has given way to the rise of one of the most unique and sought-after independent lines carried in only the finest retailers. While her collections are inspired by her travels, the name itself, which translates to “pearl of the sea”, accurately conveys the very mood of every whimsical dress in the collection.
Mark Seliger
Mark Seliger’s professional roster includes numerous music videos, commercials and projects with artists ranging from Lenny Kravitz to Mick Jagger and companies from Universal Pictures to Sony Music. His current work includes projects with Conde Nast’s GQ and Vanity Fair as well as his role as chief photographer for Rolling Stone for the last decade. In My Stairwell is Seliger’s most recent addition to a roster of published books, which includes Physiognomy, When They Came To Take My Father, Voices of the Holocaust, and Lenny Kravitz/Mark Seliger.
