Olympus Mju 790 SW - Waterproof|
Representing a winning combination of good looks and high performance, the Olympus Mju 790 SW is a real head-turner. With an exterior that’s waterproof to 3m, shockproof to 1.5m and freezeproof to -10 degrees, this model is primed for application under extreme conditions. Take it skiing; take it swimming; take it wherever you go - the Olympus Mju 790 SW can take a veritable beating. Its stylish, metal housing comes in four colours - starry silver, midnight black, sunset orange or marine blue - making this sleekly-designed wonder even more fun to have. With 7.1 Megapixels, there’s plenty of resolution for fine details or to crop or resize images later on a computer. And the 3x optical zoom (equiv. to 38-114mm) of the Olympus Mju 790SW boasts a clever inner-folded light path meaning there are no protruding parts.
Olympus Mju 790 SW - Face Detection
Cutting-edge imaging technologies mean that the Olympus Mju 790 SW not only impresses with its tough camera attribute - but also for its enviable photo results. Integrated Face Detection Technology keeps human subjects sharp and well-exposed by automatically scanning the composition for faces and then adjusting the settings accordingly for an optimal outcome.
Olympus Mju 790SW - BrightCapture Technology
A high ISO setting allows for increased sensitivity, which - when used in conjunction with BrightCapture Technology - yields significantly brighter results in low-light conditions. In addition, the powerful new TruePic III image processor works to deliver the truest colour reproduction, improved noise performance and faster overall camera speed. Furthermore, image results will closely reflect what the human eye sees - even under shadowy conditions. Thanks to Shadow Adjustment Technology, dark sections in a composition are identified and exposure intelligently adjusted in these areas for the most realistic results.
Olympus Mju 790 SW - Memory & Underwater case
23 scene modes, including four underwater modes, mean that getting the right settings in just about any photo situation is a cinch. Meanwhile, the Olympus Mju 790SW has 25 languages on board so virtually everyone can navigate the menus in their desired language. Internal memory plus an xD-Picture Card slot allow the storage capacity to be easily expanded. Furthermore, the underwater case PT-041 is optionally available for additional fun up to 40m below the water’s surface. The chic and solid Olympus Mju 790 SW arrives in stores September 2007.

Olympus Mju 790 SW - Face Detection Technology
Via the Face Detection Technology the Mju 790 SW camera can search for faces in a composition and recognises them as the main subject. It then automatically puts them in focus and optimally adjusts exposure to create an image that’s sharp in the right places and ideally exposed.
Olympus Mju 790 SW - HyperCrystal LCD
Due to a semi-transmissive technology the Olympus µ 790 SW is equipped with a HyperCrystal LCD display, which employs an additional layer at the bottom of the LCD to reflect light from external light sources. This enhances the brightness of the LCD, so even in direct sunlight images are displayed sharply and with three times the contrast of conventional displays. Also, it provides for viewing angles of up to 170° without glare or shadow, so images can be framed from a variety of angles and viewed by several people at once.
Olympus Mju 790 SW - BrightCapture Technology
The Olympus Mju 790 SW features BrightCapture Technology, a technology developed for better shooting results in low light situations. It works in two ways: i) All available pixel information from the image sensor is used to provide a view on the LCD that’s up to four times brighter than conventional types, to make framing easy even in dark surroundings. ii) In certain shooting modes sensitivity is increased (resolution is sometimes reduced), which results in well-exposed images with accurate colour reproduction, high contrast and definition, even when not using the flash. Scene modes that benefit from BrightCapture Technology include Candle, Night Scene and Available Light.
Olympus Mju 790 SW - TruePic III image processor
The Olympus Mju 790 SW features the newest-generation image processing engine, the TruePic III. This image processor automatically enhances important aspects of image quality including: Colour reproduction (colour range, saturation and brightness), picture sharpness (reduced image noise, improved edge reproduction), as well as providing faster processing speeds.
Olympus Mju 790 SW - Shadow Adjustment Technology
Dark areas in pictures are a thing of the past with the Shadow Adjustment technology on the Olympus Mju 790 SW. Exposure gets improved by using a sensor that works much like the human eye, dark parts of a composition (e.g. a shadow under a tree) are identified and the camera then adjusts the exposure settings accordingly for those areas. The result is a more realistic and detailed picture.
