AppleApple iPhone iTunes connects personal media recorder : Streaming Networks announced support for the Apple iPhone and the release of iRecord Desktop for its iRecord, Personal Media Recorder. iRecord allows any user to store their video and music content on their iPod, iPhone (via iTunes), Sony PSP, and many other USB-based portable devices. Firmware upgrades for the iRecord to support iPhone and iRecord Desktop are available free of charge to registered users. The iRecord Personal Media Recorder has an M.S.R.P. of US $199 and is available now through selected Catalog Merchants and online retailers. End Users may visit the company’s website for information on where to buy or order the device.

iRecord uses patented next generation H.264 video encoding technology, which combines stunning picture quality with small files sizes: 3 hours of video can be stored in just one gigabyte of storage. Prior to iRecord, real-time H.264 video encoding was only available as a professional solution costing thousands of dollars. “The iRecord platform is based on Streaming Network’s patented technology and provides a sophisticated solution for consumers to enjoy video contents on the device of their choice,” said Dr. Ayub Khan, CEO of Streaming Networks. “Today’s announcement is the first in a series of exciting new capabilities that Streaming Networks will be bringing to the iRecord platform as we continue to set the standard for both ease of use and video quality.”
