DivXLos Angeles Election Day sponsored by DivX : DivX, Inc. announced that it will sponsor the Los Angeles premiere of Election Day, the latest documentary by Big Mouth Films and Arts Engine, along with co-sponsors Netflix and GOOD Magazine. The production documents voting in the United States on Election Day, November 2, 2004. Shot in a single day by film crews from across the country, the film offers a revealing glimpse into the American democratic process. The LA premiere will be held on Wednesday, July 11 at the Goodson Theater on the American Film Institute campus in Los Angeles. Election Day will be preceded by two shorts, one from GOOD Magazine and another from Arts Engine's Media That Matters Film Festival.

Preview footage of the film and additional content from Arts Engine is available on DivX Stage6 in the Arts Engine channel. “Making Election Day was a reminder to me that the democratic process is not as neat and tidy as we'd like it to be,” said Katy Chevigny. “We're delighted to be showing the film to a West Coast audience and it's an honor to present this film with sponsorship from DivX.” “DivX is pleased to sponsor such a novel and creative work,” said Jordan Greenhall, co-founder and CEO at DivX, Inc. “Helping foster individual creativity has been a central focus for DivX and this film inherently operates with this passion in mind.”

About DivX
DivX creates products and services designed to improve the experience of media. Our first product offering was a video compression-decompression software library, or codec, which has been actively sought out and downloaded over 220 million times since January 2003, including over 70 million times during the last twelve months. We have since built on the success of our codec with other consumer software, including the DivX Player application, which is distributed from our website. We also license our technologies to consumer hardware device manufacturers and certify their products to ensure the interoperable support of DivX-encoded content. In addition to technology licensing to consumer hardware device manufacturers, we currently generate revenue from software licensing, advertising and content distribution.
