Travel photography contest : The smiling face of the kid selling oranges; the wizened all-knowing, all-seeing stare of the old woman in the background smoking a pipe; the regal, proud stance of the Samburu warrior; capturing these moments, these people, these faces and what photographing people is all about. So how do you do it? How do you get more than just a deadpan snapshot of a truly amazing face? At Intrepid Travel’s photography evening in its London store on July 4th, experienced professional travel photographer and organiser of the Travel Photographer of the Year awards Chris Coe will tell you how to improve your people photography. During his presentation Chris will show some of the great “people pictures” from the awards.

Travel photography
The evening is held in memory of Mike Matsushita, an Intrepid employee who was sadly killed in the London bombings in 2005. It sees the launch of an exhibition of images in aid of the Saigon Children’s Charity, which works to help disadvantaged Vietnamese children to get an education and a fair start in life. The SCC photography exhibition contains 25 photos, all taken by kids under 19 years who used the camera equipment that was purchased with funds raised in Mike’s memory.
SCC events & Photography evenings
The photos can be purchased in-store and all money raised will be donated to SCC. As well as the London event, Intrepid is holding SCC events and photography evenings on July 4th at its stores in Melbourne and Paddington, Australia. The event, which begins at 7pm, is free to attend, but you must book a space through Intrepid’s website.
