 National photography competition : Some of the most prestigious individuals in the photography world have been selected to judge a national competition celebrating the life of the late Patrick Lichfield. The photography competition is being run by Lord Lichfield's home Shugborough, in Staffordshire. The judges, announced this week include world renowned landscape photographer, Charlie Waite, managing director of Olympus UK Ltd, Graeme Chapman, and Patrick Lichfield's photographic assistant, Iain Lewis. Charlie Waite has led a distinguished career winning international acclaim for his breath-taking landscape photographs. Over the last 25 years he has held numerous high profile exhibitions across the world.

His unique style conveys a distinctive sense of serenity and spiritualism and his works are held in private collections across the world. He is frequently seen on British television, has published numerous best-selling books and has worked with some of the UK's most distinguished authors. Charlie Waite and Patrick Lichfield became friends through the BBC television program Countryfile where they were both judges of a national photographic competition. More latterly, they worked together on seminars connected with their mutual passion for photography.
Patrick Lichfield - Love of photography
Patrick Lichfield used Olympus cameras throughout his career and became an ambassador for the brand. Managing Director of Olympus (UK) Ltd, Graeme Chapman, worked professionally with Lord Lichfield for over 20 years, and also became a close friend sharing a love of photography and country pursuits. Graeme combined his love of photography with his astute sales and marketing skills in 1979 when he joined Olympus. He became managing director in 1996 and was responsible for the high profile associations between the company and noted photographers including Patrick Lichfield, David Bailey and Barry Lategan.

Speaking of the late Lord Lichfield, he said: "His enthusiasm for photography never diminished. He is one of the greats of twentieth century photography and has left a legacy of astounding images that future generations will appreciate and admire." For six years, Iain Lewis worked as Patrick Lichfield's right hand man. During this time he travelled the world attending and photographing some of the world's most famous people in some of the world's most glamorous locations.
Photography competition - Olympus E410 DSLR camera
Now Iain is an acclaimed freelance photographer in his own right working for high profile clients including Pepsi Co, Volkswagen and Sony. He specialises in portrait, lifestyle and fashion photography and his works regularly features in notable publications including Vogue, Tatler, The Guardian and The Times. The Shugborough Photography Competition is being hosted by Staffordshire County Council - which runs the Estate - in conjunction with Olympus (UK) Ltd, Tourism West Midlands and the world famous Lichfield Studios. The category winners will receive very generous prizes from Olympus - the main prize of an Olympus E-410-D-SLR being awarded for the best overall image in the competition.
