NewsLake District Guide Photographic Competition : With over 12 million visitors a year, the Lake District has become one of the most popular British holiday destinations. With close on 1000 square miles of breathtaking countryside, it's a photographers' paradise and now, once again, photographers both professional and amateur are invited to take part in the second annual photographic competition held by the visitors' website The Lake District Guide. Lake District Guides is the definitive website for visitors to the English Lakes and has become the one-stop-place to find out about the Lake District. Visitors to the site will find lots of information and advice on where to stay in the largest National Park in England and Wales.
Lake District Guide Photographic CompetitionLake District photo competition
The Lake District Guide website describes lots of high quality accommodation available across the region, ranging from camping and self-catering to some of the UK's finest country hotels, and includes details of many of the Lakes' great pubs and restaurants. There are also informative suggestions and ideas about things to do and places to go, including mountain and valley walks, and much more besides.

Lake District photographs
Following the success of the website's first photographic competition, the organisers are keen to encourage this year's photographers to be as creative as possible and to keep an eye out for those more unusual shots of the Lakes. Although this is not to discourage the beautiful landscape shots on offer at every turn in one of the most photogenic areas in Britain, the unexpected photo can always bring a fresh viewpoint and a new appreciation of the familiar. The photographs can be of landscapes, people, places or activities. Indeed, anything associated with the Lake District is welcome.

No limit to the number of photographs
The organisers are keen to point out that every photograph has an equal chance, no matter what the subject, just as long as it's been taken in the Lake District. Better still, there's no limit to the number of photographs that can be submitted, and the organisers are looking to attract as many photographers as possible, from any background or level of experience.

Photographic Competition
With increased prizes and prize money the competition certainly looks set to attract a great many more photographers than last year. This year The Lake District Guide is offering a first prize of £500, along with two prizes of £250 each for the runners up. Photographs should be submitted in either .jpg or .bmp format and sent as an email attachment. There's still plenty of time to get your entries in, as the closing date for this competition is October 31st, 2007. This competition represents the perfect opportunity for happy snappers to the region to be creative, and to pocket some seriously handy prize money.
