 Gitzo professional aluminum tripods : Gitzo introduces 2 Series 2 tripods that bring advanced materials, Gitzo technology, performance and quality to the aluminum tripod range. The castings are made of Soulid 238, Gitzo's unique technical compound 30% lighter than magnesium but just as strong and with great vibration dampening properties. They've also incorporated a Basalt center column for further weight reduction and to improve stabilization and performance. But the improvements don't stop there - the aluminum tube used for the legs is also new: 30% lighter than its predecessor, with Anti Leg Rotation system (ALR), 1.2mm wall thickness and brushed matte black finish for improved locking performance and minimized reflectivity.

Innovations aren't limited to the legs. Even the leg-warmers have gone hi-tech: light, soft and with a new ergonomic design that maximizes grip and comfort when the tripod is carried over the shoulder. These new aluminum tripods feature the Ground Level Set and removable feet. The innovative tripods follow a completely different approach to the weight issue of aluminum tripods. All other tripod manufacturers try to reduce the weight of their aluminum tripods by reducing the thickness of the aluminum tubes (0,8 - 1 mm). This leads to weak and unstable tripods. Gitzo instead maintains thicker 1,2 mm tubes for additional rigidity and strength, and reduces the weight of other components by employing new technologies. The result is an overall 30% weight reduction without compromising strength and stability.
Professional aluminum tripods
These two new tripods are recommended for lightweight camcorders, spotting scopes and DSLRs with 200mm lenses, up to a 300mm maximum. Excellent maximum load capacity and good torsional rigidity, available in 3- and 4-section models at standard and eye level heights. Series 2 is the ideal solution for photographers that are looking for a solid tripod without sacrificing weight.
