NewsEnglish National Ballet photo exhibition : Discover the beautiful world of ballet through the digital photo exhibition English National Ballet - A Unique Insight, part of the reflect series at the Royal Albert Hall. This digital photo exhibition by the photographer and artist Henry Reichhold provides a unique insight, adopting various styles through his approach to art and photography and using different cameras, including mobile phones. The resulting pictures capture the atmosphere of the moment, providing rich colours and a strong visual narrative which replace the normal photographic detail. The project and exhibition are sponsored by Epson with kind support from English National Ballet and the Royal Albert Hall.
National Ballet photo exhibition
Reichhold's distinct style explores the boundaries between painting and photography. For over a decade, his close association with English National Ballet has resulted in a collection of images that range from intimate portraits to huge panoramic collages. The exhibition looks at the dancers of English National Ballet from a broad perspective including studio rehearsals, auditions and the whole series of events that lead up to the final dress rehearsal. The National Ballet photo exhibition takes place around the ground floor corridor of the Royal Albert Hall from Tuesday 12 June to Friday 6 July and can be viewed when attending performances or on one of the free open days listed above. The National Ballet photo exhibition can also be viewed by all those attending performances.

English National Ballet

About The English National Ballet
English National Ballet is one of the world’s great ballet companies. The original 1950s vision for the Company - to take classical ballet of the highest quality to the widest geographical audience, at a price everyone can afford - remains the cornerstone of the Company’s philosophy today. There are 64 dancers in the Company, and this is augmented to 120 for annual performances at the Royal Albert Hall. There are approximately 80 members of staff, with departments including Artistic, Wardrobe, Technical, Education and Administration. In addition, the Orchestra of English National Ballet has 47 core members and is increased for performances in large theatres throughout the country.

Royal Albert Hall

About The Royal Albert Hall
The Royal Albert Hall of Arts and Sciences is an arts venue dedicated to Queen Victoria's husband and consort, Prince Albert. It is situated in the Knightsbridge area of London, England. The hall was originally to have been called The Central Hall of Arts and Sciences, but the name was changed by Queen Victoria when laying the foundation stone. It forms the practical part of a national memorial to the Prince Consort - the decorative part is the Albert Memorial directly to the north in Kensington Gardens, now separated from the Hall by the traffic along Kensington Gore.

About Photographer Henry Reichhold
Werner Reichhold, born 1925, in Berlin, Germany. Studies in Berlin, Hamburg and Paris. He taught sculpture and drawing at the Art School in Hanover, Germany. He lived till 1981 in Germany; since 1982 in California, U.S.A. Since 1960, Reichhold’s work has revolved around the concept of installation. This is as much true for his drawings, collages and photographs as it is significant for his 3-dimentional works, done most often in metal. Even after 1988, when he started working on books, artwork and text appeared combined under similar concepts. Reichhold’s latest attempts in writing follow the same principles by blending different genres into text-installations.
