HPHP Touch up : HP explains about its new Touch Up technology; For many years (since the start of photography!), professional photographers have ‘touched up’ photographs. Sometimes called ‘airbrushing’, the purpose of touching up a photograph is to subtly enhance a photo by removing a slight blemish that appears in the photo. Often the appearance of a blemish is emphasized in the photograph due to lighting, and distracts or detracts from the subject. The same blemish may be unnoticed in person, but is obvious in a photograph. Also - sometimes a temporary blemish appears at just the wrong time, perhaps at a special event, and touching up the photograph allows the photographer to restore the appearance of the subject.
HP Touch upWhat is HP Touch Up?
However, touching up a photo typically required significant time and effort by a professional photographer or photo lab and it just wasn’t worth it for the average photographer. With the advent of digital photography, touching up an image became much easier. Sophisticated image editing software allows computer savy photographers to touch up their digital photos at home and then print the photo at home or using online photofinishing services like Snapfish. Still, since you had to use a computer program, touching up photos remained out of reach for many consumer photographers or was simply not worth the effort.

With HP Touch Up not any more!
With the Touch Up feature included on select 2007 HP Photosmart Cameras, touching up a photo is now easy and simple - everything is done right on your camera! In a few seconds, the blemish is removed and you have a great picture ready to be printed and shared.

How does HP Touch Up Work?
To Touch Up a photo, you use the camera LCD and controls to indicate the area you want fixed, then press the OK button and the blemish is removed. Technically, what is happening is that the camera is analyzing the area you selected, identifying the surrounding colors and then using that information to replace the blemish with a natural skin tone. Since Touch Up actually replaces the blemish, it is important to select the entire blemish, but no more of the surrounding area than is required to repair it. After fixing the last blemish, press OK to save a new copy of the picture on your memory card. The below illustrates how this works on your HP Photosmart Camera.
