GeneralLearn photography with Stephen Johnson : Noted photographer Stephen Johnson has taught digital photography for 15 years. During that time, he has been working to make photography workshops more hands-on enabling students to experience and walk away feeling more confident in their skills. To this end, he built a full digital imaging lab in a bus to take on field workshops. He began planning his own digital lab to add to his workshop program where students would not be constrained by under-powered, under-equipped digital tools, and constrained by ink and paper. His new State of the Art Hands-on Lab opened in March and is ready for summer workshops. Stephen has been teaching and working in photography since 1977.

Most photographers are fascinated by both the art of photography as well as the technology used to produce that art. Throughout Stephen Johnson’s career he has helped build the technology that has made digital photography what it is today. His focus on cameras, printers and paper has helped him build relationships with companies like Epson, Adobe, X- rite, Colorbyte, HP and Hahnemuhle. These companies have enabled him to assemble the right equipment to teach printing and digital photography the way he thought it ought to be done - with solid information, great facilities, updated equipment, careful feedback, proper lighting, time and thought.

Photography workshops
Throughout the year Stephen Johnson holds a variety of workshops for all levels of photographers. Offering field and lab workshops as well as critiques. Some of the workshops coming up are From Raw to Print in One Week, Professional Image Editing, Fine-Art Digital Printing Hands-on, Fundamentals of Digital Photography and Mono Lake and the Eastern Sierra.
