DivXPixelodeon video festival sponsored by divX : DivX announced its sponsorship of Pixelodeon 2007, an annual independent video festival recognizing innovation, inspiration and community in global online video. The festival will be held June 9-10 at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. DivX CEO Jordan Greenhall will deliver a brief speech at the opening of the show, as part of programming that features over 300 video screenings, four keynote speakers, two dozen curators and endless networking opportunities for entertainment aficionados both old and new. Pixelodeon 2007 brings together both old and new media to discuss the transformation of the entertainment landscape in a way that appeals to anyone who is passionate about film.

Topics discussed at the event will include digital rights management, copyright and file sharing, as well as innovative ways consumers can access digital content. The video festival will introduce independent content creators who use the Internet to build communities and engage audiences, and highlight new video technologies that help audiences access content they want by eliminating barriers between filmmakers and end users. In addition to financial sponsorship, DivX will also host Pixelodeon festival video on DivX Stage6 and provide coverage of the events for those unable to attend the Los Angeles event. Mr. Greenhall will speak on Saturday, June 9 at 11:30 a.m. Festival tickets cost US $60, and guarantee a seat at all four keynote addresses and all film screenings.

“DivX is an ideal partner for us, as they are actively committed to providing independent filmmakers with the necessary tools to create and distribute meaningful content,” said Steve Woolf, co-founder of Pixelodeon and Smashface Productions, LLC. “They share the festival organizers’ vision of zero barriers to entry for artists and a more democratic media experience for audiences globally.” “We’re excited to support the exciting evolution of new media by sponsoring this event,” said Jordan Greenhall, Co-founder and CEO at DivX, Inc. “By beginning to break down traditional media barriers, we can move forward into the digital media era. The convergence of the entertainment industry with online video communities is expanding the entertainment experience through these new content distribution methods.”

About DivX
DivX creates products and services designed to improve the experience of media. Our first product offering was a video compression-decompression software library, or codec, which has been actively sought out and downloaded over 220 million times since January 2003, including over 70 million times during the last twelve months. We have since built on the success of our codec with other consumer software, including the DivX Player application, which is distributed from our website. We also license our technologies to consumer hardware device manufacturers and certify their products to ensure the interoperable support of DivX-encoded content. In addition to technology licensing to consumer hardware device manufacturers, we currently generate revenue from software licensing, advertising and content distribution.
