Steve's DigicamsPentax M30 review at Steves Digicams : Our good friends at Steves Digicams have published their review of the Pentax Optio M30 camera. The Pentax Optio M30 is equipped with a “Face Recognition AF & AE” function that automatically detects and focuses on faces, regardless of where the people appear in the photo frame. The Face Recognition AF & AE is available when the photography mode is “Portrait” and the camera is directed at people from the front. In addition, optimal exposure settings are automatically conducted so that the areas with faces are not darkened even if there is backlighting. With a high resolution of 7.1 effective Megapixels and high-performance Pentax lens, the Optio M30 realizes clear, high-quality images.

Pentax M30 camera- Design and Optical zoom
According to Steve Digicams: "Our image quality results were good for a 7 Megapixel consumer digicam. The majority of our samples show good exposure and pleasing color balance. While most images are sharp, I did see some edge softness in many of our photos. The M30's Pentax smc 3x optical zoom lens offers a typical range of 38mm - 114mm (35mm equivalent). I found its moderate wide angle end can afford decent landscape shots as well as small group portraits. While the 114mm telephoto end of the zoom range won't bring distant subjects up close and personal, it does do well with close-up portraits as well as macro shots."

Pentax M30 review conclusion - Steves Digicams
Steve continues: "You can record Quick-Time video at either 640x480 or 320x240 resolutions at frame rates of 30fps, with audio 15fps. Because sound is recorded, the optical zoom may not be used during recording, however, you can preset the focal length before starting. Our movie sample turned out good, with minimal compression noise. The AF system did well with moving subjects, and the SR mode helps you capture steady handheld videos. The only issue I saw was with the exposure system, it seems to fluctuate often." You want to learn more about the Pentax Optio digital camera? About Steve's Digicams Online
Steve's Digicams was founded in the year 1997, by, indeed, Steve. Steve Sanders is well experienced in photography, 30 years, and wants to share this experience with everyone on the Internet. Steve's motto is: simplicity. The way the website is build makes it also possible for those who haven't got a fast connection to download the website very quickly. In the same way the reviews are being written. According to Steve, it should not be necessary to follow a course in photography to be able to understand a review. For this approach Steve is well known world wide and he is welcome to it by his many readers. Beside test reports Steve's site has various other items, like a forum, camera specifications, daily "breaking" news.
