Steve's DigicamsOlympus FE240 review at Steves Digicams : Our good friends at Steves Digicams have published their review of the Olympus FE-240 camera. The 7.1 Megapixel Olympus FE-240 features a large 6.4cm LCD. The Olympus FE240 has a decided Advantage, a 5x zoom lens (38-190mm on a 35mm camera) in an incredibly slim metal body, matched with a resolution of 7.1 Megapixels. It is therefore perfect for those who want to enjoy power and quality. Main functions are conveniently controlled via a mode dial that lets users choose between the eight different programmes, including a High ISO Setting mode with ISO 1000 and movie shooting. An xD-Picture Card slot, in addition to the internal memory, makes for shooting fun without limits.

Olympus FE-240 - Action photography
According to Steve Digicams: "Shooting performance was much better than we have seen from some of the other FE models, but still not up to par with cameras in this class. Power up to first image captured measured about 2.5 seconds. Shutter lag, the delay between depressing the shutter button and capturing the image, measured 1/10 of a second when pre-focused and 7/10 of a second including autofocus. When capturing a sequence of images, the shot to shot delay averaged 3.8 - 4.0 seconds without the flash and between 4 and 6 seconds with flash, depending on subject distance and battery strength."

Olympus FE240 review conclusion - Steves Digicams
Steve continues: "When first looking at the images we captured on the camera's LCD the image quality look very promising. However, after viewing them on a PC at 100%, it was a different story. While the exposure was good (especially sky details) and color saturation was nice, I was sad to see that there was moderate edge softness that in some instances looks blurry. The center of the frame is sharp, and when viewed at the typical 23-25% to fill your PC's monitor, the images do look great. So, it's very unlikely that you will see any of these negative findings in your typical 4x6-inch prints." You want to learn more about the Olympus digital camera? In the same way the reviews are being written. According to Steve, it should not be necessary to follow a course in photography to be able to understand a review. For this approach Steve is well known world wide and he is welcome to it by his many readers. Beside test reports Steve's site has various other items, like a forum, camera specifications, daily "breaking" news.
