Steve's DigicamsCanon SD1000 at Steves Digicams : Our good friends at Steves Digicams have published their review of the Canon PowerShot SD1000 camera. The Canon SD1000 compact camera includes a new high resolution (230k pixels) PureColor LCD screen, which offers users a wide range of visual benefits. Colour tones have been enhanced by up to 30% for vibrant, true-to-life colour reproduction. The screen’s wide viewing angle is complemented by an anti-reflective coating, which makes it easy to compose and review images even in brightly-lit conditions. Settings for shutter speed and aperture are now displayed on the LCD during shooting. When using Auto ISO and High ISO Auto, the LCD will also display the ISO speed.

Canon PowerShot SD1000 - Speed
According to Steve Digicams: "As usual with Canon models, the SD1000 offers speedy performance for a consumer digicam. Power up until the first image captured measured only 1.3 seconds. Shutter lag, the delay between depressing the shutter button and capturing an image, was almost instantaneous (less than 1/10 of a second) when pre-focused, and 2/10 second including auto focus. In single frame drive mode, the shot to shot delay averaged 1.6 seconds without flash, and between 2.5 and 3.5 seconds with flash depending on subject distance."

Canon SD1000 review conclusion - Steves Digicams
Steve continues: "The overall image quality was good for a 7-megapixel model. We used the highest quality setting available (Large SuperFine), and when doing so, the SD1000 captured nice images. I did see a bit of edge softness along the left hand side of the frame as well as a bit more CA (chromatic aberrations, aka purple fringing) than I expected. Its 3x optical zoom lens offers a typical range of 35 - 105mm (35mm equivalent), and helped the camera produce sharp images throughout the zoom range. I did observe moderate barrel distortion and pincushioning at the wide angle and telephoto extremes, respectively." You want to learn more about the Canon PowerShot digital camera? About Steve's Digicams Online
Steve's Digicams was founded in the year 1997, by, indeed, Steve. Steve Sanders is well experienced in photography, 30 years, and wants to share this experience with everyone on the Internet. Steve's motto is: simplicity. The way the website is build makes it also possible for those who haven't got a fast connection to download the website very quickly. In the same way the reviews are being written. According to Steve, it should not be necessary to follow a course in photography to be able to understand a review. For this approach Steve is well known world wide and he is welcome to it by his many readers. Beside test reports Steve's site has various other items, like a forum, camera specifications, daily "breaking" news.
