PictopiaPictopia photo sales : Pictopia announced that consumers may now purchase photos from Agence France-Presse, both directly from the AFP online photo store and from Yahoo! Photos can be purchased as framed or unframed art-quality reprints, as well as photo gifts. Traditionally, AFP distributes its photography to news organizations and other media outlets for editorial purposes. The demands of taking consumer orders for reprints and filling those orders proved a daunting challenge until AFP discovered the capabilities of Pictopia. “With Pictopia’s assistance, AFP is able to offer consumers a self-serve solution for ordering reprints of our photos for a personal use,” said Gilles Tarot, Marketing & Sales Director for AFP North America.

Gilles Tarot added: “AFP captures every day thousands of images from all over the world and is very pleased to offer a selection of the best ones to the public, including some from the latest news events as well as some vintage images from our corporate archives.” “As a worldwide organization, AFP needed a partner capable of supporting international operations,” said Joel Miller, Pictopia’s Vice President of Content and Business Development. “Pictopia built an online photo store for AFP that operates interchangeably in Euros and US dollars, and we fulfill consumer orders worldwide from our production facilities in California and in the United Kingdom.”

Pictopia & AFP
The Pictopia partnership allows AFP to field consumer orders via other online outlets beyond its own online store. For example, Yahoo! News has long offered its visitors the ability to rate news photos and to e-mail news photo links to friends. Users who see AFP photos on Yahoo! News now have the opportunity to quickly and easily access and purchase many of these images by clicking on the “Purchase Photo” button.
