CanonCanon ships one millionth colour device : With 2007 proving to be a milestone year, Canon Europe announced the shipment of its one millionth colour multifunctional printer (MFP) worldwide. Since launching its first colour device 30 years ago in 1977, Canon continues to lead the way in technology innovation to become a market leader and a brand name that is synonymous with colour; so much so that this year also sees the company celebrating 20 years since the launch of its CLC digital colour printer range. Technology has significantly influenced the way businesses share information. Canon provides a comprehensive award-winning portfolio of both hardware and software that illustrates its understanding of the market and its needs.

Since the launch of its first colour device 30 years ago, the company has introduced a raft of world firsts, including environmentally friendly automatic-duplexing (double-sided printing). For more than a decade, Canon has been one of the top-three organisations in the world in terms of registering patents, and is widely recognised for technological innovation - having registered 2,378 US patents in 2006. Canon global Group consistently invests approximately 8% of sales into research & development worldwide annually, which highlights its commitment to delivering superior technology to the market.

Canon colour devices
Since the first shipment of Canon colour devices, technology has come a long way in this time and has changed the way that people live and work. In 1985 Microsoft invented Windows and in 1990 the world was given the World Wide Web. Not only that, since 1977 society has seen the rise of the mobile phone, Apple Macintosh and the invention of the Walkman.

Canon Office Solutions - Tony Aoki
Tony Aoki, European Marketing Director, Office Solutions Marketing, Canon Europe says: “Today, we expect more from the technology around us and colour printing is no exception. Since the launch of the first colour printer technology has become increasingly more sophisticated. Such advances include electrographic technologies and ensure we are continually delivering products to market with the best possible speed, quality and performance. With more than 2,000 US patents filed in 2006 alone, we make sure that Canon leads the way with technological innovation so that our products far exceed market requirements. The shipment of our one millionth MFP is testament to our staying power.”

Canon colour printing portfolio
Canon has a well-established colour printing portfolio and currently holds the number one position by brand for colour and colour-capable multifunctional printer (MFP) sales across Western Europe , for nine of the past 11 years. Since the launch of its first digital copier, the CLC1, Canon has consistently brought to market award winning products that offer affordable, reliable, high-quality output that suits every business need.

Home, office or professional environments
“Colour is a key cornerstone of our business strategy and it is a real milestone to be celebrating both 30 years of colour and 20 years of our CLC digital colour range. Canon continues to lead the market in terms of innovation and market share and this proves that we listen to our customers and cater for their needs, regardless of whether they are in home, office or professional environments,” concluded Tony Aoki.
