CanonCanon imagePROGRAF iPF6100 large format printer : Canon Europe, world leader in digital imaging technology, announced the launch of the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF6100, a 24” large-format printer (LFP). Aimed primarily at the graphic arts market, the imagePROGRAF iPF6100 completes Canon’s large format printer range, which runs from 17” up to 60”, and highlights its commitment to the market. Canon’s market share has increased significantly year-on-year within this space and now stands at 11%. Boasting industry leading technologies, the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF6100 is designed to deliver high quality output at high speed. The Canon imagePROGRAF iPF6100 large format printer will be available across Europe from July, 2007.

The 12-colour LUCIA ink system includes red, green, blue and two shades of grey to give a wider colour also incorporates four new inks: black, matte black, grey and photo grey to further enhance the quality of prints, which are more durable and scratch resistant. The inks also ensure less graininess and reduce bronzing, which can be caused by diffused light reflection.

Canon printer colour calibration tool
The imagePROGRAF iPF6100 has a new colour calibration tool that adjusts colour differences caused by ageing, individual print heads, or between different printers, for more stable colour reproduction. Using a precise multi-sensor, accurate colour calibration (average delta E: 2.0 or less) is performed in approximately 10 minutes.

“The accuracy of this new printer is enhanced by Canon’s new colour calibration tool. Where customers run a number of machines side-by-side or with similar content, the colour differences between machines can be easily corrected. Colour accuracy and consistency is essential to the graphic arts market and the imagePROGRAF iPF6100 delivers just this, print after print.” Paul Hinkins, European Marketing Manager, LFP, Canon Europe says. “Also, with Canon’s new next-generation colour management technology, Kyuanos, it offers an ambient light adjustment function. Kyuanos allows the printer to minimise the differences in the way colours appear due to the lighting conditions that posters are displayed in.”

Canon dual high-density print head system
The imagePROGRAF iPF6100 has a twin, high-density print head that improves imaging speeds and durability of the printer as it crams 30,720 nozzles into two 1” print heads. By incorporating FINE (Full - photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) technology, 4-pl (picolitre) ink droplets ensure delicate colour gradation, high-definition expression and accuracy. The L-COA processor performs the high-speed processing of high-volume 12-colour image data and simultaneously controls the operation of the printer and the dual high-density print head system.

Canon poster software
The imagePROGRAF iPF6100 comes with a range of features to ensure that set up and operation are as simple as possible. These include image input and selection with the imagePROGRAF Front-Access, which communicates with other applications, a large sized control panel and enhanced user support. Canon’s new high quality poster creating software, PosterArtist 2007, and exclusive graphic RIP with 12-colour model support, are available as options.
