 Olympus E-410 Test with photo samples : Last year, Olympus gave the starting shot for a new FourThirds SLR concept and the first real digital compact SLR - the Olympus E-400 DSLR - was born. Unfortunately it was only the European continent that was so lucky to get acquainted with this model, as all the other continents were left out. This year Olympus made up for it all with the introduction of two new digital SLR cameras just before the PMA 2007 in Las Vegas kicked off, among them the new Olympus E-410. I had already been introduced to this camera during my visit to the PMA and thanks to a fast cooperation with Olympus we are able to carry out a full test on the Olympus E410 SLR very shortly after its introduction.

Olympus FourThirds SLR Review
The segment, to which the Olympus E-410 belongs, is subject to strong rivalry. Of course Nikon and Canon are obviously present, but we also see Pentax and Samsung joining the battle. This is a sign for Olympus to show their strongest side and looking at the specifications on paper, we expect a lot from the new FourThirds SLR models. Quite remarkable are the many reactions and comments that seemed to appear from nowhere since the Olympus E-400 has been introduced and even more so after the introduction of the new Olympus E410 digital SLR camera. Olympus E-410 Review - Dual Flash Memory Slot
The new Olympus E-410 is one of the feat of arms with which Olympus is claiming their market share this year. Moreover the Olympus E-510 and a new professional SLR camera are expected this summer. Olympus seem to be able to offer a strong assortment with these three FourThirds system cameras. They all look very promising on paper in any case. The compact size of the Olympus E410 tempts you to take the camera with you all the time. The size also invites you to use one of the smallest memory cards available from Olympus' own kitchen: the xD Picture Card. However; the Olympus E-410 is equipped with a dual card slot, so not only the xD card is supported but also the CompactFlash memory card.

One of the first advantages Olympus claimed for the FourThirds system was the possibility of manufacturing an extremely compact digital SLR camera and the smallest lenses possible. The size of the lenses soon convinced us, but it wasn't until the E-400 was introduced before it was clear how compact and light weighted a DSLR could turn out. We have had the Olympus E-410 double kit in the house for a period of time and we were able to test the set exhaustively.
