CanonCaptaris RightFax integration for Canon MEAP : Canon USA, Inc., a leading provider of digital imaging solutions, and Captaris, Inc., a leading provider of software products that automate document-centric processes, announced the availability of the Captaris RightFax Integration for Canon’s innovative Multifunctional Embedded Application Platform. This new solution can be seen in the Canon booth #1400 at the AIIM On Demand 2007 Conference and Expo in Boston. The Captaris RightFax Integration for MEAP is currently available. Canon’s MEAP enabled Multifunction Products (MFPs), combined with RightFax, provide customers with a consolidated solution for all their document development, duplication and delivery needs.

The Captaris RightFax Integration for MEAP transforms the Canon imageRunner device into a central networked interface to send, receive and distribute hardcopy and electronic fax transmissions. Canon imageRunner MFPs integrated with Captaris RightFax are capable of transforming paper-based documents to digital format, then delivering them through the network via standard fax, certified e-mail or encrypted PDF with notifications and history for fax tracking and audit trails. In conjunction with Canon imageRunner devices, the Captaris RightFax integration is an ideal solution for healthcare, legal, human resources, and accounting professionals who rely on fax transmissions as part of their daily workflow.

Captaris RightFax - Canon imageRunner devices
“Canon’s MEAP system architecture delivers streamlined solutions to the workplace providing greater functionality through Canon imageRunner devices,” said Dennis Amorosano, director and general manager, Solutions Business Development Division, Canon USA, Inc. “Applications such as Captaris RightFax better equip Canon customers to more efficiently manage documents in the digital workplace and take advantage of the full potential of Canon’s imageRunner devices.” A Captaris RightFax installation replaces the traditional fax machine or the fax card sold to enable analog phone line faxing at an MFP. It consolidates and automates enterprise network faxing, providing the ability to securely send and receive faxes and electronic documents directly from a personal computer or a Canon imageRunner device.

MEAP technology - RightFax
“The new Captaris RightFax two-way integration using MEAP technology provides a much richer user experience for our mutual customers,” said Mike Spacone, general manager of the MFP Practice at Captaris. “This integration is a continuation of our joint solutions and now it is even easier for Canon and Captaris users to automate and control their document-centric processes.” The new Captaris RightFax integration, comprised of the RightFax MFP Module Canon Connector and the RightFax MEAP Application, enables office workers to create, process, deliver and track fax transmissions all from the imageRunner control panel. This is made possible by two-way communication between the Canon imageRunner devices and a RightFax Server. The user-friendly interface on the imageRunner device enables office personnel to select fax options, attach cover sheets, input billing codes, select document types, access RightFax phonebooks and personal accounts, as well as schedule delivery options.

RightFax Integration for Canon MEAP - Availability
The RightFax integration’s configuration wizard provides centralized management and administration tools to ease deployment and ongoing management for IT and administrative staff. The RightFax Server will also log all data and actions for fax transmissions as well as provide Canon users customizable notification options for audit trail and accountability purposes. With the RightFax Server, incoming fax transmissions can be sent to the user’s workstation computer to be viewed and/or edited. The digital transmissions can then be forwarded as e-mail, saved to a document management system or file, or sent via the LAN to be printed at an imageRunner device. The RightFax Integration for MEAP is currently available through Canon and authorized dealers. RightFax Server products are available through the Captaris reseller channel.
